As said- one is legal. Other is one for the testers on here.

1) Car has failed MOT. Car can be removed and returned for partial retest( partial fee) if returned within 10 days. Otherwise, it's full retest and full fee. Ten days -is this 10 working days ( exc Saturday & Sunday) or 10 days ?
2) A lot of VAG cars have the front ARB connected to the front subframe via a droplink. I've had a fail on one as ARB ball joint excessive play. In the end I went back and asked the tester WTF?He did show me, and when I got a new one, it's clear that it is a rod with two ball joints. However VAG, Haynes all refer to it as a "droplink". Q for testers is "does the computer test offer a list of failure options", or does tester have to type in the fail? Similarly another one "excess movement in rubber suspension bush" ,turned out to be a wishbone , rear bush failure. On the old handwritten forms, pre computer testing, the tester had the option of elaborating on the place.

Cold thursday- you should meet up with wet friday and head off for a nice bike ride with anti on her cyclone.
Ben- one reason I take mine away, as then they get the message that the "standard "fails like wiper not wiping properly ,and indicators wrong colour and advisories about worn "in limit" brake discs show a desperation for work.My daughter once had a fail on a "WRONGLY POSITIONED BRAKE PIPE" , along with a bad tyre. Cost, £25 plus tyre. I took her to local tyre place ,where I knew the manager. Tyre replaced, the bloke looked at pipe and could only see a problem. Retest passed. Another one- ball joint fail - quote = approx £150 . Hubby's brother got the part for £30 and fitted it. Tracking was about £15.
cambiker -thank you , I'd have said 10 working days. As for the terminology- I'd put that down to the fact that garage tries on all occasions to get the work.
