Not implying it's our "Hants Rat" but I guess they share a locker room. This guy has been popping up all over my Social Media feeds today and not for good reasons! Is that a body cam on his chest? and if so I expect the footage will be getting pulled pretty quickly, "I hope you die so I get the overtime" is never a good quote to come out with to another motorcyclist regardless of what you perceive they've done wrong, and a surefire way to Facebook Stardom.

FFS I'll try and make it clearer for you:

"Hants" - Abbreviated term for Hampshire, implying and picture was taken within the Force Area of The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary.

"Rat" - Abbreviated version of the commonly used and slightly derogatory nickname of "Black Rat" that was originally used as an insult to Traffic Officers implying that they were that ruthless they'd "eat their own". In recent years this has been reclaimed by Road Policing Officers and now days tends to be a title or nickname that most of them will wear with pride and regard as a "badge of honour" (as I suspect does the PH Member who posts under the pseudonym)

Hence the thread title refers to a Hampshire & Isle of Wight Traffic Officer who has been popping up on Social Media feeds a lot this morning (but I guess that was a bit of a long thread title!

No association was suggested or implied towards the PH Member concerned, beyond that he/she, may/may not work in the same geographical region and area of policing as the Officer whos photo is doing the rounds.

Also for clarity, it is perfectly possible that the motorcyclist who was pulled over was riding as some would define "like a knob", if his claims on Social Media are honest and factual then he was making progress and filtering in a way he believed to be safe and which did not fall below any recognised standards to warrant prosecution. He did however attract the attention of the Officer photographed and was on the receiving end of "words of advice" that he felt crossed the line from pep talk to outright rude, insulting and pretty offensive i.e. the alleged quote of "I hope you kill yourself as I'll then get some overtime"
