What Address to use for Insurance

Son is trying to renew his insurance and gets different quotes for different addresses. Reason I say this is he's in the Army and presently in Tidworth but his driving licence and log book for his car are registered at my home (Newcastle Upon Tyne) as he's posted every couple of years (or has been in the past) and also moves internally so his address changes regularly. He's spoke to LV and asked over the phone which one he should use. At first the guy said it should be where the car is mostly used, but would ask his manager, who then came back and said the address written on the log book. So as you can see he's no better off and still unsure. Difference in quotes is about £50 cheaper using my home address so not a great deal, but would hate for him to have to make a claim and they turn round and say wrong address insurance void.
