We have a popular spot for getting caught speeding here in Somerset that was formerly all NSL but now has a short 40mph stretch as it passes a farm and pub.

Passing through last week I spotted a couple of guys in high-viz with their hand-held gun, assumed they were police at first, a bit further up the road they had their van parked, it was marked up with reflective chevrons etc but it wasn't a police van, it was a (presumably) private company, unfortunately I can't remember the name.

Would this be for actual speed enforcement and can you receive points from them? I was under 40mph so no issues, just intrigued as I'd not seen that before.

Might have simply been a speed survey, carried out by a private company. Without knowing what it said on the van, it's difficult to know!
