Had a NIP through last week for one of my work vehicles for the alleged offence of Failing to Wear a Seatbelt and requirement for drivers details.

Worked it out that it had to be one of two possible drivers and neither of them are sure as to which of them it was, so I replied to the NIP asking for any description and enquired as to why they weren't stopped at the time.

This morning I receive the a reply, along with photos!!!!

Photos from a bloody speed camera van - the sad git sitting in it didn't get them for speeding, so he reported them for no seatbelt Unfrigging-believable

Photos can clearly I.D the driver who has been informed it was him and he is astounded that it is a Speed Camera van that has reported him

Is it about road safety or about the money.........

Neither of them lied - they weren't sure who was driving at the time.

The one who wasn't driving (he was in passenger seat) initially said he thought it could have been him who was driving but wasn't entirely sure

As for the no seatbelt- I've done it and been fined, the missus drives me nuts I have been in the passenger seat of her car and the seatbelt warning is pinging and I've passed comment to put her seatbelt on as the ping ping is annoying. Her reply "I just blank it out" rolleyes

Edited to add: the vehicle they were in doesn't have seatbelt warning chimes , but not an excuse

I don't have any objection to wearing a seatbelt - I have been fined myself (4-5 years ago) for not wearing it.

My missus ignores the ping ping If she is in the passenger seat of my car and doesn't put her belt on I pull over (I may have tapped the brakes on the odd occasion) wink

I've read your post through a number of times and can't see what you intended when making it.
Were you trying to demonstrate how odious you think speed enforcement is or are you showing that you think that reasonable safety precautions, regulated for your benefit are something you don't agree with?
Wearing seat belts are surely a good idea and benefit you and your wife who seems to share your unbelievable logic regarding safety.
I think you simply don't like having your speed monitored and are trying to give speed camera vans a worse reputation than the petrolhead community already attribute to them.
Rather pleasingly your final question reveals your mindset and it is reinforced later on this page when you think it reasonable to 'brake-test' your wife when she leaves her seat belt off.
I could say you come over as a bit of a dick but you have done that yourself. The best thing you can do is tell your wife to belt-up and perhaps do the same yourself while you are at it.
You really are a prick!

Can't believe an employer / manager is complaining about a camera van catching someone driving a work vehicle without a belt.

My employers would suspend me, hold a disciplinary and dismiss me if I got a ticket for that during working hours.
It's hardly the crime of the century and certainly hasn't brought the company into any form of disrepute that warrants a disciplinary. It's going to cost the driver £100!

I'm not complaining that he was caught - just more surprised that it was by a Speed Camera Van

Do you think a multinational corporate cares about losing someone with a bad attitude towards complying with rules (and laws)?

Employers have a duty of care towards their employees - hence with mine, anyone driving on company business has to comply with certain rules and have a defensive driving course every 2 years with an online refresher every year. Perhaps that's why we rarely have accidents in company vehicles.

I have a very low accident record on my company fleet policy.

My staff and contractors have done defensive driving courses, E&E courses,

I have zero tolerance on alcohol and drugs

Phones must be hands free - as well as the standard vehicle Bluetooth most vehicles are fitted with additional Novero kit so that another 2 Handsets can be connected to it
Radio handsets must be earpiece and throat mike

But I'm not going to have a hissy fit because one of them wasn't wearing a seatbelt - they are big enough and ugly enough to face the music if caught not wearing one which I doubt happens regularly

Yet you came on here and made a thread about it.
Yep. Because I've never heard of the Speed Camera Van dishing out Seatbelt Tickets
