Just had final resolution on an insurance claim against my wife. Too long a story to post in one go so thought I would provide bulletins (from the past).

Received letter (Feb 2017) from claims management company stating my PCP Panda ( I know, but £99 a month no deposit) , but driven by wife, had been involved in an accident but failed to stop. Letter requested insurance details. Checked with wife - no knowledge of accident, checked car no bumps, bruises or scrapes - good as new.

E-mailed claims management company with above info -told them I would not be providing info. requested

Waited a couple of weeks , then call from our insurers saying claim had been made. Said no accident had occurred and sent photos. Insurer said they would send assessor around to check the car.

Ok I will hurry up. Assessor visited, agreed no damage to Panda. Followed up with call to insurers. Claim was for Vito taxi wife had damaged so badly owner wanted to take of road for repairs. Asked for location, and wife remembers taxi - get worried, but describes how she was parked in end parking space on road and when she returned there was a black can parked her on double yellows behind her nearly touching. She pulled out without incident.

Six weeks in (sorry it feels like longer) witness statement which describes how wife had tried to reverse into space between cab and another car. Also stating cab was not on yellows. Ok so now lying witness . Wife asked for formal statement etc by insurer this provided. Also we were told that insurer has refused to pay for hire car to replace damaged tax whilst off road.

Ok I will try to finish and relieve the many who are near death.

As I said no damage to Panda (confirmed by assessors report) so don't think wife reversed in and destroyed front end of taxi.

No news until renewal - increase in premium of 40%. Spoke to insurers, said that they would put claim on hold so no premium increase, will take a couple of days to sort. Rang back told I was given the wrong info on no premium increase but they would pay £25 compensation for wrong info.

Then 10 minutes later call back from our insurers saying the had chased claimants insurers for response to evidence provided on damage and wife's statement.

And now the outcome...........................

Withdrawal of claim ! No increase in premium.

Don't think I have started a new trend of stories in installments.

A few years ago I was looking at the Honest John site and someone asked where most of the knowledgeable posters had gone, a reply came saying they had migrated to Piston Heads because they were fed up of the posters who just wanted to criticise. Funny how things work out.

I suppose if the first responder has said ' well done you managed to avoid a spurious insurance claim , too many increased premiums due to idiots trying to game the system', everyone else would have said 'good on you', but of course with the sheep mentality of PH we get the school yard idiots wetting themselves with excitement on the first insult. Next time I will start my post with 'My EE457tt45rr BWM/Mercedes/Audi..' and if that does not bore your tits off nothing will. A
