Hi, I'm looking for a bit of advice please, hopefully from experience.

I bought my nephew a car on the 10th August this year. The seller gave me the new keeper's supplement, but subsequently, I can only assume, never sent the main section of the V5 away. DVLA told my nephew earlier this year that they hadn't received anything, (4/5 weeks after purchase) and to give it another week or so, and if nothing, fill in a V62, and send that along with the new keeper's supplement for them to issue a V5 in my nephew's name.

Fast forward to this weekend, when I was lying underneath it helping him repair the thing (2002 Corsa), thinking that we/I might as well trade it in and get him a newer more reliable car. When I asked him about the V5, he never followed up with the V62/New Keeper's supplement, and the car is still not in his name. Obviously this will compromise things if we try to trade the car in for something else.

My question is this, is there a fine for applying so late in the day for a new V5? If he/we apply now, should he put in the date of sale/transfer as 10th August, or bring it forward somewhat, to potentially get away from any fine/penalty? The private seller still has my number, and has read text messages I have sent, but won't answer calls, so I am sure there have been no fines or issues since my nephew has had the car. I'm quite sure the communication would have been coming the other way should there have been!

Cheers.

Just get the V62 in asap.

I'd put the correct keeper-change date on, just in case the original V5C turns up at some stage.
Yeah it's sitting on my desk to complete this afternoon. I intend on posting this evening, but unsure what lies ahead for my nephew regarding the delay. I'll fill in the correct date and hopefully it just passes through the system and there's no recourse for him.
