Howdy.

Got involved a road rage incident. Long story short I was followed home and decided to calm it down and apologise for what he thought I'd done.

Couldn't be bothered going through my dashcam with him as I just wanted him calmed down and gone.

I have footage of him and his mate plus his reg. Lots of him calling me a bar steward at a roundabout but nothing more sinister and he never left the car.

I'm now concerned that he'll return at night and smash my car up or one of his mates will.

Dashcam footage proves I did nothing wrong and going from what he was saying alongside the footage, he must have thought I was a car that turned left in front of me.

Would you bother trying to do anything with the police as they could theoretically show I had done nothing wrong or just save the footage in case something happens (I realise it won't prove anything hence considering the proactive approach).

Cheers.

The last thing I would have done is driven home. I’d have kept driving around until I was certain he’d got bored and disappeared then gone home.
Hindsight is wonderful hey.

I wasn’t scared of them so I wasn’t bothered to be honest. His mate was trying to calm him down and I didn’t abuse him so never thought anything of it.

He was canny and followed me calmly at a distance.

I rang 101 and they said I had to report it fully so I said no thanks, would leave it in case anything happened. That call is on file anyway so it ties things together a bit.

Well I got out the car to talk to him, is that not man enough for you?

Thought this was a place for people who cared about their cars?

Anyway was waiting for a reply like yours, they don’t take long!

As above, you led a mental stalker to your home... Not the sharpest tool in the box.
Thanks for your input.

Hope nobody stalks you and follows you home without you realising...

Yeah I just wasn't bothered and never considered it.

Was just annoying that I had to be meek as it was on my doorstep.

Car is fine this morning.

OP, you need to make up your mind as to whether you didn't know they were following you, or you knew but weren't bothered or whether they followed calmly but at a distance or whether they were close enough (and angry enough) that you could see the passenger calming down the driver (in the dark, in your mirrors, while driving).

Whatever the truth (there's no judgement here), I'm pleased nothing has come of it.
Actually I don’t need to make my mind up about anything.

You don’t seem to have grasped what happened.

I spoke to him twice, once at the next junction and once at my house.

I didn’t consider that he might be following me because I thought nothing further of it and I could see that after the first “chat” his mate was trying to calm him down.

I only came for the five minute argument, not the full half-hour, so, despite the tale still not really making sense, I'll take the chance to wish you well a final time.
I don’t need it to make sense, I only wanted advice on whether it was worth proactively contacting the police for any reason at all.

Of course the full autopsy has to happen.

Thank you for your well wishes though.

Do the same thing that my friend does after a hoon, just drive causally around some built up area a fair distance away from home until you feel like they've gone.

Although having said that, I don't know you and most people who have dashcams can't drive for st.
So you're implying there's a good chance I can't drive very well.

Does your wonderful sounding mate have a dashcam?

My company car insurance excess is large and liability moves to me if I am deemed at fault.

That's the only reason I have one although a bonus is being able to look back at rare/amazing cars that I see on my travels.

So OP, was your car fire bombed or are we all good now ?
It still seems fine biggrin

It was only a week old at the time so I was feeling a little precious.
