Victim of deliberate swerve towards my car in lane 3 on M1

Basically i have reported to the Police with dash cam footage of an idiot in a 4x4 undertaking and swerving into my car (front LH side) adn they have asked me to go in and make a statement. They do keep asking if i want to pursue the matter, i do feel they dont want to prosecute as its hassle, but the guy almost put me into the central reservation on the M1! I think they have said they will prosecute for driving without due care, to me it seems it should be dangerous driving? Has anyone else been through this type of event and what was the outcome, is it worth pursuing and getting the guy prosecuted? His argument will be that i pulled out into the outside lane to close to the front of his vehicle, there was plenty of space from what i saw, its was a very careful and slowly executed maneuver on camera, it also doesn't have any bearing on the actual impact, apart from the fact that he was pissed off!

i think what angered him also was i did slow down as we were coming into the roadworks 50 zone, but i didnt just pull out and brake, in fact i dont think i actually braked, just lifted off the throttle.

Wow, impressed at the amount of people on here that are not quite getting the picture. I moved out into lane 3, car following was barely catching me, been like that for several miles in fact. I move out slowly and carefully. about 15 seconds of so later i slow due to the start of average speed cameras in roadworks at 50mph. Idiot swerves around and moves out into my lane whilst already on the brakes before he even gets in front!
He even flashed my about 10 seconds after i did the maneuver, that is how the Police know he was there for a few seconds and then decided to undertake and swerve, not that he was loosing control due to me entering the outside lane.
I have people cut into my lane vastly reducing my safe following distance every day, this was nothing like that, he was approaching at a very slow rate and there was plenty of room. Not to mention that swerving into my car in the outside lane of the M1 is not really the appropriate action if i had cut him up now is it!!!

Oh so you wouldnt use dash cam footage if someone deliberately crashed into your car? I would only use dash cam footage if something was really dangerous or to support a claim

yes he hit me, swerved into my side trying to make me hit the back of him but he misjudged, hence him being on the brakes before he was actually past the front of my car!
I had just overtaken a vehicle, thats why i had moved into lane 3. I did not move over as i was approaching another car and a truck was catching another in lane 1 and looked likely to change lane.
What i now realize is this was a pointless post, its original purpose was to highlight the imbecility of some of the drivers on the roads today, when i have in fact managed to get replies from most of them here!
I also now understand why when i talk to most car lovers at meets etc they say they have not been on Pistonheads for a long time, as its now populated with idiots and keyboard warriors with little else in their lives to entertain them other than a bit of confrontational internet chat. This was my first post in a long time, wont make that mistake again!
Ill stick to having a life and getting out in my cars when i can and chat to sensible people
