forgot to tax vehicle

my tax expired 10 days ago and has been kept on a public road though hasn't been driven during this time.

I dont beleive online tax renewal gives me the option to backdate the tax. If I tax from now, will I get accounted for the past 10 days, what will happen and how can I resolve it?
