Are you allowed to head out as a pack of riders and have a large luton van (and a quad bike) following said pack with hazards on, roughly doing five to ten mph max for several miles making it impossible for anyone to overtake ? This was on the A252. Not sure how long the queue behind was, but I would imagine by the time a few got waved past on one straight section (not past the bikes, just the van) and they all then eventually pulled into a pub, there must have been thirty or so vehicles behind me.

This isn't a moan. I was in no rush and just crept along pondering the legalities.

So why do you hate cyclists so much???
Ask the people who hate them.

And this is the same group on the A2 London bound with the van and quad arrowed. Rather large queue behind them, too. No idea how long that went on for.

I would be surprised if they were only doing between five and ten miles per hour. Between twenty and twenty five would be more likely.
You would have to be surprised, then!

The organisers didn't need any consent from any authorities and the NEG would just inform the Police they would be passing through their area as a matter of courtesy.
I think that has answered that one, then. As I say, it didn't bother me, I was just curious as there wasn't much else to do but think about 'stuff' hehe

Always amazes me, that the more someone has a hatred towards cyclists the more often they use the word lycra.
Is it some sort of closet fetish?
More of a dash fetish. Why do you think most are incapable of changing down a gear or two when they overtake, what is that hand up to....
That chugger-chugger sound as people overtake 2 gears too high is quite a familiar sound for a cyclist.
We have a quite long steep and winding hill near to where I live and every single day, without fail, someone at the front going up it can't work out which gear to be in. In manuals at least, they either come to an almost complete stop as it gets to the steepest part, or they sit in first hitting 14,000 rpms doing around 5 mph. It has become laughably predictable who is and isn't going to do the right thing when you follow them up. You can hear them change into say third or fourth on the initial climb and the car slows down more and more until you are barely moving and then I assume they get the handbook out..
