With a difference.

I wandered into Trinity Park Roadways because of a crappy sat nav, initially stopped to sort things and glanced out the driver’s window to see the below signage and thought better of it. I turned around and exited all in about 2-3 mins.

Today I received an invoice for my trouble. Says that I was parked. I wasn’t really, just reading Ts & Cs. Says that “By parking within this car park you are bound by these Ts & Cs......” I never entered a car park and the pic shows the car I was in on the roadway, albeit with double yellows.

The reason for the issue was “no parking/no stopping”. I wasn’t parked as said, but was stopped reading the Ts & Cs. Having looked at Street View, it would be impossible to safely read the Ts & Cs without stopping.

Surely the 10 minutes grace applies here for entering a private car park, even though it’s a highway.

Thanks all.

Pretty much as I see it. I had no idea I was entering private land and no intention to stay or park. The pic of the car I was driving (which was a hire car btw) was taken from a car parked up the street that seemed intent on catching everyone. It’s near the station, and if you look on google street view there’s a few taxis parked up to avoid waiting fees, so I understand why they’re doing it. But Christ what an entrapment situation.

Update:

Letter sent pointing out that the car was stopped opposite a Ts & Cs notice, so maybe the driver was reading them, then decided to move on. Also pointed out that it’s impossible to read a notice unless stopped. And should they wish to pursue, then asked them to supply ANPR entry and exit times if longer than 10 mins, and a pre-court letter of explanation of why they continued to pursue.

Their reply was as as expected really.
