Passed in April 2019

Stopped doing 102moh on motorway in UK

Likely outcome and is there any point in him instructing a specialist solicitor?

Cheers me dears

Why did you choose to do such a speed is a more pertinent question for a new driver
Because it wouldn’t go any faster? biggrin
The boy is an idiot.

He’s already had a course for speeding past a variable camera.

And it took him 8 goes to pass.

I refer back to my first line.

His dad is encouraging him to lie. About what I have no idea. To give him some credit he is point blank refusing to do that.

Lie about what? Say that he wasn’t driving? That’s about the only lie I can think of for this situation. Doesn’t work out overly well. Sounds like he’s lucky he has you as a voice of reason and sound judgement.
Just my two penneth, if he’s bang to rights little point in lawyering up. Attend court, look smart, be apologetic and remorseful. Take what’s coming and he can learn from it.
Will be interesting to see how the Mags deal with him. I shouldn’t imagine that sort of speed from a driver with 15 months experience will amuse them. OP Plse keep us updated with the outcome.
Apparently exaggerate how much he needs his car for work etc. I don’t think it would work anyway...

Personally I don’t like being driven by him. It’s not feeling safe!

His court paperwork has come through.

Does anyone know. If the license is revoked After 6 points and he passes his tests again by some miracle will the 6 penalty points carry forward onto his new license.

I suspect yes, but it’s not completely clear.

If he accumulates 6 or more points since first passing a test, his licence will be revoked. This is an administrative process by the DVLA and, subject to not being disqualified by the court, he can continue to drive until he receives written notification of the revocation and the date of its commencement..

He can retake a test at any time after revocation and yes, any existing points will be carried on to his new licence.
Thanks and whoops!

He works for a risk averse insurance company and gets 50% discount. I’m guessing that 6 points and a new license will put him out of their cover criteria...

My point still stands, removal of the bottom group will improve the average, even if by only a small amount.
Actually that wasn't your point which is why I was disagreeing
KevinCamaroSS said:
It would weed out those that really should not be driving, this would bring the average up a fair bit.
My point as others have suggested is that you have no data to say how much driving would be improved by this action.
My pout is your points are currently irrelevant and if no great value

Cheers me dears.

And probably the final update.

HIs license has been revoked. They gave 5 days notice, then took 5 days to send the letter... So it was same day!

He's allowed to apply for his provisional immediately, by post only. and then the tests...

Has he lost his job?

I remember I lost mine for a similar at 18 but I got 4 month and £800 fine just prior to the 2 year rule so kept the full licence.

Only difference I was in full time education and part time work not for a risk adverse insurer which seems an odd fit.

Seems a steep learning curve.
Nope. Ultimately he is a call Centre grunt who has speeded on a motorway. Doesn't need it for work and has zero come back on them.

He's an idiot - but one they seem quite fond of.

An update.

He has changed jobs. Still a call centre grunt, but a better paid one, albeit without a 50% insurance discount.

he failed his first theory and passed his second. His test has been postponed to July.

He regrets speeding!

Here endeth this thread with a pass.

The boy is happy.

And his pass rate much improved at an average of 4 attempts per license smile

Thank you surveyor for keeping this thread updated. Knowing how a story ends is so satisfying.

Let's hope idiot boy actually learned a lesson.

Now he's got his licence back, presumably he's also back in the "no more than 6 points in 2 years" chair?

Should be interesting.
I’m feeling benevolent tonight. Although he did an idiot thing he is actually a thoughtful caring and considerate person and making a decent go at life. I should give home more credit.

Nice to hear he can’t land back in the same position, although i don’t think I will tell him that!
