Shall we have a sweep to see how long he’ll be going down for ?

If you were driving a 3ltr Capri also through Sunderland I may have been in the passenger seat !
A much younger Buster got done for speeding on the very same road on a motorcycle 44 years ago , Plod pulled me over in my defence I clearly stated to the said policeman I was bang on the limit and never went over 40 mph , to which he replied it’s a 30 mph limit son.Easiest pull he ever had.

We raced through Sunderland like morons , we were young and stupid , in a 3ltr Capri completely oblivious to the cop behind us . On pulling into the " roker hotel " we thought we were the dogs bks with everyone inside looking at us . We quickly realised they were looking at the cop who'd just blocked us in and we ended up on the receiving end of a proper good old fashioned copper bking but he did let us off .
Needless to say we drove away sensibly after the telling off to save face !
I knew someone who raced down Sea Road except he drove straight into the roundabout without trying to get round it, it was a Capri as well.Needless to say we drove away sensibly after the telling off to save face !
It wasn’t me...

If you're from Newcastle and find yourself in Sunderland then that sort of driving becomes the norm. I dare say it's the same when the roles are reversed. Fastest route out, driven as fast as possible! Geordies and Mackems have a real affinity for each other..........
Since the 17th Century, although the horse and carts then were a tad slower.http://www.destinationsunderland.co.uk/history/the...
