Flatmate accuses me of taking his car without permission, but he said I could borrow it!

Hi guys, so I'm in a bit of a situation and need some advice.

On Tuesday night, I was at home with my flatmate having a few drinks and a joint when I realised that I had forgotten to lock up at work, so I asked my flatmate if I could borrow his car to drive back to the office (only a few miles away).

He said 'no problem', so I grabbed the keys and headed off. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to me, the car was SORN'd at the time (and had 4 baldy tyres).

On the way to the office, an Ambulance I was driving behind braked suddenly while I was looking at my phone and I drove into the back of it! The man they were transporting was unfortunately having a heart attack, and has since passed away.

When the police arrived, I blew over the alcohol limit, and also tested positive for cannabis/cocaine on the drug wipe thing. They accused me of driving otherwise in accordance with a licence (I only have provisional), and if that wasn't bad enough, the boot was full of stolen BluRay players!

My flatmate is denying he leant me the car, and any knowledge of the BluRay players.

What am I looking at penalty points wise? I have my driving test in a couple of weeks, will this affect my insurance premiums after I pass?

Thanks
