How many times have you been caught by the police / let off for speeding? And what's the fastest you've been caught for?

So the only time I’ve ever been stopped for doing something wrong I was booked!! Even worse my wife was a copper and was in the passenger seat and worked with the guy who stopped me and he still booked me!!

Now that's harsh!

You've most likely got away with your poor driving because the officers have been unable to prove your speed due to circumstances and/or their own vehicle. Words of advice are mostly what you'll get - until you bump into a traffic unit who'll throw the book at you.
I have been lucky or had a good attitude. Not sure how far the latter carries you.
The 95 on the dual carriageway was indeed a traffic car, so I was very grateful to be let off for that one.

Is it the school holidays already........?
Not saying I condone the speeding.
I work nights and will be the first to admit I let it slip when it’s dark and the roads are quiet.

Post isn’t to brag, just asking people their experiences smile

85-ish on the M3 in my Golf GTI at night. Police car crept up behind with no blues on, lit up as it passed, pulled in front gradually slowing to 70, as did I. We both stayed at that speed for a couple of miles then it turned off. I never heard anything, sensible policing I thought.
Really like that approach.

Never been caught, never been stopped - i feel in a minority at 45 yo frown

Edit: Well i was caught speeding in the Czech Rep in about 1995 and the fine was paltry - but the drawn fire arms where a bigger deterrant

I'm guessing you've hit some stop worthy speeds then?

My Dad used to work nights in centre of Manchester so was frequently driving home at 3-4am. I bet he was stopped 4 or 5 times a year. Sometimes it was just random checks but frequently it was 40 in a 30 or driving through red lights. In 30 years he must have had around a hundred stops and he never got one ticket - I guess he passed the attitude test.
I think your dad forgot to tell you he was Don Corleone laugh
I credit my "history" to attitude - I'm very polite but not a brown noser, smile. I'm sure most of the time the police have to deal with total scrotes giving them a hard time, false name, dodgy vehicle - you name it. Just meeting polite normal people must be a bonus? I'm not sure of that - maybe a policeman/woman on here could comment.
Baffles me. Getting pulled for something you’ve done wrong, knowing full well you’re in the wrong and deciding the best course of action is to be an arse.

I’ll be the first to admit it’s a horrible feeling having to stand there and have your arse handed to you on the side of the road, but at least I, and I’m sure most people, are mature enough to know it’s deserved!
