The smell of weed.

I’m looking for a bit of advice. I live in a terraced house where our garden backs on to the houses behind ie there’s no lane/path/road separating the houses, the garden itself is very small, it’s more a yard than garden, think coronation street and you’d get a good idea of what I’m talking about.

We use our garden in the warmer months like an extra out door room but one or maybe more of our neighbours is smoking weed which absolutely stinks, it’s so bad sometimes if we have a window open at the back of the house we can smell it in our house. It’s very annoying especially as neither me or my OH smokes or takes part in recreational pharmaceuticals. So why should we have to put up with this putrid stench? Is there anything that can be done about it?

Any help or ideas would be good. Thanks.

I don’t care if it’s illegal. My issue is that it absolutely stinks.

You have people walking down the road who absolutely reek of weed ( and probably b!tch every time the Police stop them in the street), and quite often you have people who walk down the road openly smoking weed (which despite what some on here seem to be claiming, is not legal!).

It's got nothing to do with whether it's legal to smoke or not though - Weed stinks!

(As do pretty much all of the totally legal vape devices, that non-vapers are forced to endure! in public)

I'd love to know what the people who say: "If you don't like it, just move!" do for a living, that enables them to simply move house every time something bothers them.

In the real World, moving house is slightly more complicated than being able to: "just move".

In my case, the value of my property has been adversely affected due to being surrounded by weed smoking students, who don't give a cr4p about their neighbours, so: "just moving" is simply not an option.

As the OP I can’t believe how this has turned out. I didn’t envisage so many replies at all. All I was looking for was advice.

I’m thankful for the advice that’s been given, I’m going to go round and speak to the neighbours as a first step and see what happens from there.

Just to clear things up, I don’t care if it’s legal or not, if it’s what you want to do crack on. The thing that bothers me is the stink. I don’t want to have to close my windows because of it, and moving isn’t an option. To put it into context, if every night there was drunken talking/arguing/laughter coming from a neighbours house then I would still go and have a quiet word.
