Change owner without adding previous keepers?

Simple(ish) scenario.

I own a car.... My father is the registered keeper on the V5, as he used to drive it more than me when I worked away from home.


I now need to insure the car under my own policy. But the car is still registered to him.... the V5 says that there is only 1 former keeper...I want to keep it that way!!

Can I change the name without changing the number of former keepers?

Why... I am the one owner... the registered keeper is not neceserily the legal owner!
