As you can tell by the title I was clamped tonight... frown

What happened is that I work at Domino's as a delivery driver for the evenings and weekends while I do my apprenticeship, pulled up tonight after doing a delivery, run in and grab another delivery when I came out the car had a clamp on and had blocked me in and would not let me go and get my things.

So I phoned up straight away my father who is a solicitor who came down to try and smooth things over and get the clamp removed, when he got there they would not listen to him then two more 'guys' got out another van and surrounded him in trying to intimidate him, then pushed him a few times!

So we gave in, said I'll go and get a credit card but had to come home to get it, so told them and they we're like if the truck gets here it's being taken, so while I was away the truck arrived, my father warned them not to touch the car as it's to low to go on the tow truck but totally ignored him, so they proceeded in putting the car on the tow truck and ended up ripping the front bumper clean off the car and has caused some sort of damage to the underside of the car as oil pissed out everywhere FFS!!

Then they just went and took the car, they are asked for.......

Clamp - £125
Truck - £245
Waiting- 160
Abuse - £80

Then to add insult they have added a overnight storage fee of...... £3000

So as you can imagine I am totally fked off!!

Oh and this company is not a member of the SIA to they are operating illegally as well.

We also contacted the Police station down the road because of the threatening behaviour and the abuse, as well as what was happening and they said tuff basically redface

Need help and loads of it!

Because he don't know this kinda law stuff that well, he only deals with matrimonial cases and sometimes care proceedings as well, where as my solicitor deals with civil matters all the time.

Hope that made some sense lol!!

Okay guys, easy with the BS claim and that, I understand why some of you think it though, I kinda wish it was all BS but sadly that is far from the truth frown

To clear a few things up 1st, the reason why I already have a solicitor acting this quickly is as some people have noticed that my old man is one and he knows others, I have used my current solicitor before so always had him on speed dial and known the person since I was 6 (not that I remember back then laugh)

For the parking issue someone has mentioned, I had parked in our marked out parking bays for Domino's but sadly I didn't check the parking as I had straddled the white line onto another so they clamped it frown

About the police part... they have been told about what 1st happen and no they couldn't do anything about it as it is a civil matter BUT then we also mentioned about the other things that had happened and they have given me a crime number and have been up the police station most the afternoon giving statements, and getting the guys who was working who witnessed all that happened to give statements AND also to hand over the CCTV footage to the police as it shows exactly what happened.

Now I am sure I have forgotten some other details so please just ask, I don't bite tongue out

I can honestly say If that happened to me I would put his van windows through with my fists.

Picking on an innocent young girl like that....... Imagine that was your mum.

Sorry to sound harsh but I have experience of these cowboy clamper firms and its all bad. The British Parking Association is a total waste of time and the sooner clamping on private land is made illegal the better.

No doubt you will get some clampers respondng to this post saying: well dont park where you should not then!

I am not against issusing a penalty but that penalty needs to fit the crime.
I was very angry but I know at the young age of 24 that violence don't solve anything, even though that was VERY tempting redface

Park legally, its not difficult is it.
If you choose to park on private land, when you know damn well you shouldn't be, you face the consequences i'm afraid (even if its only for as long as it takes for a pizza to cook)
No sympathy from me.....move along now!!
Stop being such a .
You always get one NorthernBoy, hence why I didn't bother replying as you always get a smart ass around rolleyes

There are other ways to get even, and I think I would be tempted to use as many as I could come up with.

To be honest I'm surprised more cases don't turn violent. I bet these blackmailers would not dare target a car full of tall and well built men in the way they do single and vulnerable women.

Funny you mention that fella, I am getting a small group to go with me to get the car tomorrow if the allow me to pay (even though I will cancel it after I got the car) just in case anything happens as they have already threatened me physically frown

Well you'd have to be careful not to do anything too nasty. I wouldn't, for example, find the nearest fishing boat and request some fish guts, put them in a pot and leave them in a warm place for a week, then accidentally spill them into the air intake of the van that the clamping meat head like spending so much of his time sitting in. Especially when it is winter and he likes the heater on.
I just spat out my coffee reading that, needed cheering up so cheers fella smile

How about a sit in at their compound! Great if a over 100 of us turn up and sit in! LBS will have to give Scott his car back when the law changes. Maybe this a call for the law to changed right now.
I would be up for that on a weekend!
Scott!

I would invoice them for the car and then take them to the County Court. As they have not paid the CCJs already against them; I am sure that the judge will find in your favour. Tell Plod (Essesx Police) to get your car back as the law is changing anyway. Tell them it was 'carjacked' off you.
Nice idea about the police involvment but they have said over and over again they can't do anything about, plus wouldn't saying that it was 'carjacked' off me be wasting police time?

Oh I have already done an invoice, for the car when new, plus outstanding finance as well as all the various bits I have done to the car wink in fact it's already in the post so should be interesting wink

Don't pay them anything, you need to get an injunction requiring them to return the car. I've heard of similar things being done before, but sadly am lacking in the details. More help would be better sought on PePiPoo...
Cheers for the PePiPoo heads up fella, going to start reading that as well smile
