Any recommendations for insurance for a C7 Grand Sport? UK sourced, not an import, looking for limited mileage policy.

Thank you all - yes, the problem is the Grand Sport doesn’t show up in the list of cars, and the mainstream insurers don’t seem all that interested in adding it currently. Have tried a few specialists eg Adrian Flux but are a good 50% more expensive for the same cover compared to a Z51, which is, um.... irritating!

I have just got a quote using my details from Compare the Market for a 2017 GS Convertible.

Admiral, Elephant, Diamond and LV all coming in below £500.
Cool, there was no GS in the drop down box when I tried?
Yup, I can't see GS in the box either. Although going to Admiral direct, for example, I seem to be able to get a quote so that's a start...

Let us know how you get on as I need insurance as well. I put in z06, limited 5000 miles,1000 excess, one claim, garaged at home, comp, value of car 78k, age 56. Came out 650 with a driving miss daisy box fitted!!! Obviously not having that, next was 670 and up
Yes, will do. I got a similar quote (690) from the mainstream insurers for a 2018 GS, 91k value, garaged, no claims, 600 excess, 3000 miles.

I used a registration number to get a quote.
Ah, that explains it. I can't do that as it's a new car. Maybe it'll be easier next year...

I ended up with a pretty wide variety of quotes. Value 91k, no claims, garaged, 3000 mile policy, age 39:

- Admiral: £611 (but I need to speak with them as you can't place online, so we'll see...) with £550 excess. This one was much more expensive until I added my wife onto the quote, oddly.

- Diamond - £775 with £600 excess

- Adrian Flux: £1100, plus need to fit thatcham tracker, £750 excess (they always seem to be really expensive!).

- A-Plan: £860 with £900 excess, with guaranteed replacement at full value within 12 months of first reg. (maybe worth it given you can't get Gap Insurance for new Vettes so far as I can tell...).

I also got a quote that included cover for track days. It's very pricey (£3200 - Footman James - with £2k excess), but given it covers the entire cost of the car on up to 5 track days, that's fair enough, and should be cheaper in a few years when the car is worth less and I have some NCD to put on it. One for another year, won't be tracking it in the next 12 months!

Did you try Admiral yet? Way cheaper than all the brokers based on my quotes. Only problem with them is they don’t do new car cover for the first 12 months (mine is new/18 plate) so you just get ‘market value’, with new car cover you get retail cost of new car in first 12 mo. Shame you can’t get gap insurance for Vettes...

I hope to get it before then, I live just round the corner from Ian Allen so should be able to get it into my garage using trade plates... what did you get? I was down there today looking at some new ones awaiting their new owners...!

I know, shocker, haha! They arrived late yesterday apparently.

Yeah, not planning on changing any time soon plus the cost of all the options I wanted was pretty much the same as C65, so went for that. If I get bored of the stickers that can be easily resolved... Only manual C65 in the country (1 of 3 I think). Saw the Z06 in the showroom today... reckon they should have got a manual box on a car like that, but personal choice...

Love the Watkins Glen colour though. Would have been my other choice. Enjoy the car!

No haven’t tried admiral, would have to be much cheaper for it to be a concideration if it’s only market value in first 12 months.
Classicline is only market value too. A Plan is cheapest I've found so far that does new car replacement in first 12 months.

My classic vettes are with classicline and my modern challenger was with A Plan, avoid flux as there has been a lot of bad reviews on many many American car sites in recent times, particularly if you need to make a claim, have you tried Brentcare as a lot of the challenger guys are getting good quotes from them and also try Aviva, a friend had multi car policy with them and they covered his C6 ZR1 and was very cheap 9few years ago though) but brentcare seem to be the best value at the mo
Thanks, yes, I'm going to run with A Plan at £860 I think. Flux were £1100 and are just awful to deal with. Brentacre I spoke to this morning after reading someone mentioned them above, but they were £1250... Aviva won't quote on these cars. Hoping this will be easier next year!

Ok it was Aplans turn today, £646 1st year like for like replacement cover if written off. Only draw back got to have a GPS tracker fitted.
The GS comes with a GPS tracker fitted, so that’s easy! A Plan said to me that was fine. Obviously you have to keep the OnStar subscription up to date, but that would go with any tracker...

Hmmm spoke to Craig today and he said just factory imobolizer no tracker?
All Corvettes come with OnStar - check the Chevy UK website. Plus I spoke to Craig about this Wednesday...! Just depends on whether insurer happy with it I guess, but can’t see why they wouldn’t be given it’s the same as any other tracker so far as I can work out!

I think I may have got a bit confused, sure onstar but I got the impression from a plan that they required another or higher category tracker.

Too many phone calls lol, I’ll double check on Monday.

Let me know what they say!

Didn’t bother in the end as I’ve gone with aviva, Ian Allen recommended a broker who got me a more comprehensive cover for £995 all in, new replacement car if written off in the first 3 years. 5000 miles with option to extend if needed. And they accept the onstar.

So I’m all set

Excellent. All except the fact it is 1 March and I dare say neither of us are brave enough to take our 18 plate cars out today!!
