C7 Grand Sport / Z06 availability
Discussion
Hi all.
Long time lurker in this section (but been on P/heads 14 years!), but I am keen to learn about C7 Grand Sport or Z06 availability and the kinds of numbers of cars around in the UK.
I am talking specifically about either UK/EU spec cars.
I'm provisionally looking at the cars that are on sale atm on here and on mobile.de.
There's nothing available that exactly fits my ideal spec, so if anyone knows of anything else coming up for sale, then perhaps you could PM me. I am prepared to wait for my desired spec.
I'm in a dilemma with my current car - an immaculate Abarth 124 Spider as I love it, but I've always had an itch I need to scratch to own a 'Vette.
I'm aware that they often take a while to sell - some ads have been up weeks/months, so that's a slight concern, but I know it's a small, specialised market.
I've had an online chat with a really helpful chap called Jim on the Corvette forum website who's answered a few technical questions.
Cheers, Jon

Brian, that's a good point...!
I realise that the pool of Grand Sports / Z06 cars is small and I will have to compromise somewhere, so I will consider anything, but my ideal spec is blue or red or black with (a must) competition seats (pref Alcantara with same steering wheel) and heritage stripe colours. I'll consider auto or manual.
I was deliberately not being picky in my post as I realise that I won't be inundated with PM's.
Thanks

Have you driven one?
Not a C7. I've driven a C5 and a C6 and have owned a few similar types of cars and have wanted one for a while.
I have no issues with LHD and like something a bit different and unconventional.
As I mentioned, I know there's a small market for them.
Thanks for your replies.
Chris, I saw the pic of your car on the other thread - looks great, but not 'my colours'. Thanks, though.
I am still searching for a Grandsport or Z06.
I've seen one in Germany and have been doing some homework on importing procedure and particularly on headlights/fog lights compatibility.
If anyone has any advice on importing from EU, then please let me know.

Hi all.
Just thought I'd update this thread with the news that I have finally bought and collected a Grand Sport today from Craig at Ian Allan.
Absolutely great service.
It's the blue one that was for sale here.
I was seriously looking in Germany, but the value of the £ vs Euro made them really expensive.
Thanks to everyone who posted on here and for the PM's sent.
Looking forward to seeing a few of you at Corvette events next year.
Cheers and Happy New Year...!

Thanks for that, Chris and Brian.
I'm loving it - and trying to get used to all the attention.
When I collected it and called at the petrol station 2 minutes afterwards (whilst Craig filled it up for me - thanks), the attendant ignored a £100k+ Aston next to it and wanted photos of the car and him next to it.
Also yesterday at The Phoenix in Hartley Wintney event, I overheard someone chatting to their mates saying that it was their favourite car there (praise indeed as it was parked just up from 3 McLarens).
Gets positive attention everywhere.

Thanks for your nice comments about my car.
You'll love a Z06 - my Grand Sport is plenty quick enough, so I bet another couple of hundred bhp will be amazing. They are superb cars and I love mine.
The silver one (presumably the Clive Sutton one for £62k) looks nice, but is priced a bit cheaper than 'the going rate' as it's a US import model. This isn't a negative, but EU or UK models will always be worth more. EU and UK models are easily identified by bigger wing mirrors with indicators built-in and headlight washers built into the bumper area. There have been one or two US ones for sale where people have added their own headlight washers - so look out for those.

It also doesn't have many of the bits that are popular add-ons ie carbon dash, carbon side skirts/front splitter. Again, if it did, it'd be more £££.
There are plenty of really helpful, friendly people on this part of the forum that offered great advice to me when I was looking and hopefully someone with more 'Vette experience will be along to give their opinion.
At the end of the day, it's still a Z06, but be armed with this info if you go and see it.
You could always look in the EU - see these sites:

Feel free to drop me a PM if you want any other info as I have done loads of research over the last few months.
