1.4 supersport fitting zr160 vvc engine
Discussion
You will need the engine loom , ECU and 5AS units from the donor, you will need a driver side engine mount from a VVC R300 which lowers the engine a tad, you wil need to transfer over the sump, pickup and flywheel/clutch from the 1.4, depending on the age of the the 1.4, the flywheel tooth pattern may be different from the ZR160 flywheel which will give you a problem with the ECU. You will need to shorten the first motion shaft and fit a spigot bearing/sleeve in the end of the crank. The block will need modifying to allow fitment of the starter motor.
Grafting in the engine loom may give a problem or two depending on the age of the car and whether it is EU1, EU2 or EU3.

I had it done to mine in 2004 ; not that straightforward and total cost (I was paying for it to be done but v much at mates rates) was about 4k, including an almost new VVC 160 for about a grand. I included lightened flywheel and comp master cylinder, new wiring of course and instruments. Transformed the car - 1.4 K is v charismatic engine but with 5 speed it was struggling . If your car has the six speed though I would leave it alone as the six speed really brings out the best in the 1.4

Thanks for the reply and the detail it's much appreciated.
The car in question is a 91 model. I haven't bought it yet there is one I'm considering on eBay I was just weighing up options to upgrade it before I jump in, or I might just wait a while for a superlight/r to come up

I'm always looking at the classifieds and I've only seen 2 Superlights up for sale in the past 3 years, the one I brought and the one which is currently for sale at a dealer near Brands. The car in question is a 91 model.
