My 2.0 tuned Duratec came with a tired 44ah battery which needs replacing.
Does anyone know if there are any lightweight batteries that will do the job?
I don't want to use a booster pack every time, but I just figured with all the lith-ion tech now that perhaps there is a lighter option?
Cheers

I would not really want to change the alternator but have a good trickle charger.
I'll have to look into that!
Bother!

It arrived today, and is certainly small and light!
The terminals on it are just large spade type.
I have a few issues to sort before fitting it but promise to feedback.
Cheers

Everything like fuel pump fired up as normal, but when you turned key fully it gives a single click (as if starter is stuck/battery is flat), then car goes dead.

You then have to take key out to re-set , or disconnect and re-connect the battery to try again as if some security has kicked in.

Agreed.
I am trying to fathom specs for batteries but it seems there is no real agreed convention, or if there is manufacturers seem to keep some specs secret!
It seems you can choose a selection of values for calculating Ah and they can vary by a factor of 5!
If anyone does find out a Life battery that works please let us know.
Cheers

What engine do you have, and is it a race car?

I know the ad said it is for mobility scooters etc, but I hoped the car hadn't read the description. I thought it worth a punt!

I talked to Antigravity batteries about what they would recommend (they do do car batteries too), and they said I should be able to use the one recommended by CycleSi.
They also said Caterham are considering using it a lot more, even as an option.

When it arrives I will fit it and feedback.

ps. It has 480 CCA and 16 Ah, and weighs 1.45kg!!!!! I seriously hope it works!

Yes, they said it would be fine, but did ask if I had a dynamo or alternator, and if the regulator was internal or external.

That advice is for any trickle charger used.
The battery can be drained by alarms etc that remain on.

Well the Anti Gravity battery turned up!
I was a bit peeved because it is even smaller than the my last failed attempt so there was no way it was going to work.
I started to top the charge up (the charger said it was a little low) but 30 seconds later lost patience, connected it to the car and gave it a go.
It was faultless, a healthy turn over and then it fired straight away!
It defies all logic, did I mention it is smaller than the failed Ebay one!!

Incredible!
