I am looking for a Caterham Superlight model - open minded as to K series or Duratec engined but want something in good shape. I look on PHs regularly but there seems to be very little choice. Went to one of the dealers who advertise on PHs today and quite frankly, they were not very helpful at all and it was a wasted trip.

Where else should I be looking? Any suggestions as to good dealers or websites to keep an eye on? My ideal car would be a R400 (K or D) or 420R with narrow chassis. Will be used mainly for road trips, weekend blasts and a few trackdays per year.

Any suggestions as to where to look would be appreciated
Thanks

Thanks. I do keep an eye on PHs, less so on Facebook. A few people have recommended Millwood which is encouraging but they don’t carry much stock. They have a nice blue R300 in, might go and have a look at that next week if I can.

I’ve just looked for Caterham Midlands and they don’t seem to be there anymore! I did have a look at the main dealers and their stock is generally newer / top end of the market.

Seven & Classics have an R500 but I think that might be more than I need for mainly road use.

Thanks for the suggestions, very helpful.

I did see that Superlight R, looks like great fun but perhaps too track orientated for me. I want a manual gearbox and something mainly for road use.

I did go to GP Sevens. I liked a car there but they said they would only take it out if I was sure I was going to buy it as it had just been cleaned. Don’t think I have ever bought a used car without trying it so I left. Strange way to do business.

That’s very interesting re the sequential box. I’ve never tried one but figured it was mainly for track work. You are right, I shouldn’t discount anything before trying it.

I’ve never cleaned a 7 but was hoping as it’s small, it would be relatively easy. I can understand them not wanting to get a car dirty but I can’t buy a car without trying it. Will check out a few of the others mentioned. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Milwood so I’ll Get myself down there. They have an R300 and R500 at the moment so perhaps one will fit the bill.

Thanks again for the feedback, much appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback, maybe I just caught them on a bad day in that case or they were busy. I will keep an eye on their website.

Me for one. Drove a Superlight, R300 and R400 hired from them and loved them all. Great way to try a car on track.
