Spotted a Caterham today, loaded backwards on the trailer, single axle Brian James. I thought a big no but the
Owner was unconcerned. Any thoughts?

Yeah not my ideal choice. Nose weight would be very low.

I would if there wasn't an engine in it

I loaded my Alpine GTA Turbo with the front facing backwards - but that was rear engined

I would suggest you're massively over thinking it.

The weight distribution of a caterham (with a lump in the driving seat) is actually rearward, based on any corner weights I've seen. OK, when you remove the lump and it's going to move forward. But it's still pretty central - remember you've got a not inconsiderable mass of diff out the back, plus fuel, plus it's more 'mid-front' than front engined - the engine is still between the axles & behind the front wheels, rather than over/in-front of the front axle.
Quick google says a CSR is 49/51 front-rear - for whatever that's worth.

At worst you'd probably just move it a couple of inches to get a sensible nose weight.

I’ve heard they’re more aerodynamic travelling backwards… biggrin
