170S order

So I’ve placed a deposit for the new 170S. Waiting time circa 8 months and I’ll be building from a kit. Excited to finalise the options then it’ll be a case of reading as much as I can before it comes and clearing out a good space in our garage. Can’t wait!

Did you test drive the 170 before placing the order? I was remarkably impressed (hence the order) - and that follows ten years of Crossflow ownership. I do find myself wondering whether to move to a 360, but I think that a 170 will do very nicely for road use.

No, I’ve not test driven a 170, nor any Caterham for that matter. But it’s a car I’ve wanted since I was a kid and this is an itch I need to scratch. I hope I won’t be disappointed!

I’m similarly going round in circles with the options. I think I’ve decided on everything except the colour and seat choice.

Had a trip to Oakmere Caterham. They had a lovely volcano red 170S. They really are tiny, but it was good to sit in the various seats. I’m going for standard rather than buckets - much better padding and more suited to road use IMO.

I’ve changed my order from a kit to factory build. Realised I wouldn’t have the time to build myself, and to be honest I just want to drive the thing.

Should be ready by March.

Thankfully order locked in before the last couple of price increases, which is saving me several £k.

A couple of months approximately. Happy to getting it before Spring so it’ll be ready for the roads being clear of salt.

Already planning trips. Have booked two days at Goodwood FoS, which will include a long drive from here in North Yorkshire.

Been informed the car has been built and is awaiting iva. Should be getting it by early June, fingers crossed. Can’t wait!

I had it transported (covered) from the dealership to a Detailer to have PPF applied. Should hopefully be ready in the next few days.

Picked her up from the Detailer last weekend. A rather stressful drive back through traffics jams but eventually got onto country roads, where it was a pleasure to drive!

It’s funny you should say that. Noticed this after a drive on Sunday. Have reported back to the dealership and awaiting a call…
