Acoustifill - repacking for cans
Discussion
Can confirm this stuff is fab - reduced my repackable R500 silencer (on my R300) from over 100db to 97. Very rapid job and not messy or fiddly like I think it might have been had I been repacking it with wool / fibre which needs you to wrap in clingfilm etc. Cost me £50 and enough to repack twice.
The trackdays I do have 100db static testing and no drive by testing (which is where the induction noise is more of an issue) so hopefully this will do the trick!!
Now just to work out why my fan is not cutting in, which was fine before I hibernated the car for Winter!! Grrrrr.

Not sure it should be moving around - sounds like a re-pack!!
Even Raceco themselves mentioned Acoustifill. If you google them you can call them direct and they couriered enough for two repacks on next day delivery for about £55quid. Very helpful lady indeed.
The Acoustifill is almost like a roll of thin duvet - wrap it loosely around the inner perforated exhaust - not too tight and not too much. Simply slide the can back over. Then when the can gets hot the little strings built into it burn off and it expands to fill the void.
Even dead easy to do mid track day if necessary if for some reason you suddenly fail a drive by. I'm gonna keep some in my tow car.
I would definitely recommend...!!

Just to loop back - has indeed passed first 'official' noise test of this season at 97db (i.e. at the track rather than my home DIY efforts with noise meter, although I can't have been that amateur as I had also arrived at 97!) so the re-pack has 100% done the trick for about £50 all in. Happy days!
