I've just fitted a new scuttle to my car and following the fitment of the new part, I noticed that there is a slight clunk when turning the steering wheel. It's as if the whole column is jumping about 2mm or so (back towards the driver). (I've refitted the 2 bolts that hold the support bracket for the steering column to the scuttle by the way.)

Any ideas/suggestions?

"The clamp"? What's that then?! I left the whole steering column assembly in place, and only removed the scuttle and dash.

Thanks
