Filling with fuel cannot get the nozzle in - Help

Just got a beautiful Roadsport SV 150 Anniversary, she is lovely, especially on a sunny Sunday morning. Sorry for the daft question (the search function does not work at the moment) but when trying to fill her with v-power this morning the nozzle did not fit. I had to buy a plastic tank and fill that then fill the tank. She has the aero-style filler cap and it seemed the pump nozzle design was not compatible, the second lip on the nozzle hit the top of the cap and stopped easy fueling. (Very embarrassing). Is this a common feature? Is the a fix, apart from finding a new petrol station.
