I hope some of the VX220.org bods are here today? Has everyone gone to the VXR site? Anyway, here goes:
My NA won't start; the control/engine electronics idicator light (the one on the bottom row, at the right-hand end) stays on after the ignition is turned on. According to the hand book this indicates a immobilizer fault. All the usual buzzes and whirrs happen when the ignition is turned on, it sounds like the fuel pump etc are all working. Absolutely jaff all happens when I push the starter button. The car will start and runs fine if I bump-start it - i.e. shove it down the road. So far I've checked all the fuses and replaced the battery (it wasn't holding charge very well anyway). I've also tried both sets of keys incase it's a problem with the fob.
Any other top tips before I admit defeat and go to vaux?

Pretty sure the leads to the battery aren't loose, tight as feck in fact. All other electrics on the car work, definately getting 12V at the ignition fuse when the key is turned.
Agree that immobilser is unlikely as it runs after a bump - just going on what the manual says (it probably lies like cheap seiko watch).
Does anyone know what the exactly the immobilzer does? Does it just kill the spark, the injectors, or any other stuff (ignition relay/soleniod)? I guess the immobilzer function is built into the ECU, rather than in a seperate box.
There's no voltage at the starter motor, but without a circuit diagram it's hard to trace. Anyone got a wiring diagram in PDF or similar, or know where the next point to check after the ignition switch would be.

Can anyone with an NA confirm whether their engine electronics warning light on the dash (bottom right) goes out a couple of seconds after the ignition is turned on (before the car is started)? Mine doesn't, the handbook says it should.

Thanks for the tip, I just tried tried the fuel cut off reset button. No joy I'm afraid, I guess it wouldn't work when I bump start if the fuel cut was the problem?
I've admitted defeat - booked in with VX vaux garage next Fri.
