Do l go for manual or auto?
Discussion
I've pretty much decided that l need to scratch my V8 itch and l'm in a financial position to buy a new Mustang but l'm looking for real world advice on whether l go for a manual or an auto box.
The car will be my daily driver and l won't do a great mileage - certainly no more that 6-8000 miles a year - almost all on single carriageway A roads and mainly with just me in the car.
So, over to the experts - do l go manual or auto?
Thanks.

Thanks all ..... and yes l am still confused!
I'm not an aggressive driver - to me it's all about the sound rather than trying to throw it around.
There is no commute these days - l'm well and truly retired. I spent a career doing anything from 20 to 40 thousand miles a year but
I've never owned an auto - although I've had a few as hire cars over the years - nothing interesting though - always ecoboxes.
One other daft question - will my golf clubs and electric trolley fit in the boot or will l need to drop the rear seats?

Thanks for the responses folks.
I do indeed need to test drive them so I bit the Bullet (see what l did there?) today and rang my local Ford main dealer. They don't sell Mustangs! The nearest is apparently in Manchester - 70 miles away!
Not convinced so tried the next dealer (only 25 miles away) and they do sell them - marvellous! Spoke to the sales guy and the snag is that they don't have a demo! They "might" have a used one in stock but he doesn't know for certain as he only deals with new cars and the used car chap isn't in until tomorrow so could l please ring back in the morning.
I can see this is going to be more difficult than l thought!

After 3 phone calls and no promised return call being received, l finally have a test drive booked for Wednesday. They only have a used manual so l'll have to go further afield to try out an auto but at least it's a start.
I can't believe how difficult it's proving to spend the thick end of £45k!!

The saga continues! Test drive was a farce. I was only allowed to drive around the block .... all in a 30mph area!
However, l did like the car so the next step is to check if it fits my garage (actually I know it doesn't but I'm having new garage doors fitted & l need to know how much wider the gap needs to be) so l arranged for the car to be brought to my house this morning. I checked yesterday afternoon that we were still on for this (since l hadn't received the promised confirmatory phone call) and was assured it would be with me at 10.
09.50 this morning l received a phone call - they can't come because of covid restrictions!
Getting seriously fed up with Ford customer service!

Did you buy/try anything OP?
Seriously thinking of looking at a Bullitt
The furthest I've got is a test drive of a manual. It was only round the block so didn't get out of 3rd gear. No chance of doing more at present due to Covid restrictions. I'm going to leave it all until the new year now. Seriously thinking of looking at a Bullitt
Just to resurrect this thread.
After all the difficulties with test drives due to Covid, a lack of cars due to semiconductor shortages and delays with getting my garage door sorted, l have, this week, pulled the trigger on a ........ MANUAL!
It's in Velocity Blue with the Custom 2 pack and rear spoiler. Deposit paid (a very reasonable £250), decent(ish) discount and a salesman who actually returns calls as promised.
The only snag is l have absolutely no idea of a delivery date. Best guess is somewhere between Jan and July of next year!

Further update!
I got a call from the salesman on Monday saying that he'd been looking at the online documentation to see if there was a build date for me yet and noticed that the colour had been changed for Velocity to Grabber Blue.
Upon investigation, it transpires that the 2022 model colours have had some significant changes with several colours dropped altogether and some new ones introduced but no notification if this to UK dealers and Ford UK web site still shows the old colours as available.
I wasn't that keen on Grabber Blue and following a discussion with SWMBO we have settled on Atlas Blue instead. He has confirmed this today - still no indication build date though.
Just for info in case anyone else is considering placing an order, this link gives details of the changes https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&...
