Well, it's less than a month away, and probably the only game I'll buy in 2011... Do I need to pre order a copy, if so from where (not a big gamer, but I understand some folk pre order god knows how long in advance to be assured a copy, or is that just console releases?)
Who else is looking forward to this as much as I am?
I did search for a thread but search isn't responding, and I can't find any recent threads either.

I cannot wait for this to come out. I've got it on preorder from Amazon for the 360. I did have it on order for the PS3 but considering Bethesda record for the PS3 I changed my mind. I've booked a week off work to play this as well .
Have you watched the gameplay vids yet?
You dedicated nerd Have you watched the gameplay vids yet?
Watched the gameplay vies months ago, I've not read up on it since... But decided there and I wanted it.
The second or third last game I got was oblivion, release day. As you can tell, I don game much.
Sooooo, do I need to pre order, to avoid disappointment?

Can't see why people are getting so excited to be honest. Given past efforts, once patched, patched, patched, and patched some more, it will be epic, but on release it will be a buggy POS causing much grief and heartache.
This is more pc than console though, isn't it? Console developers don't release the bug ridden versions quite as much as pc games, or at least that was the case a decade ago when I last bought plenty of games of both platforms.Well, Im glad I didnt pre-order.
In 7 pages, I dont think anyone actually answered the original question (that I can remember) which was... "Do I need to pre-order" (due to stock levels etc). I feared there would be no available stock whatsoever on shelves, but also disliked the idea of pre-ordering as copies do not always turn up.
Not really fair on the hard core gamers who commit loyalty and money to a company well in advance, by pre-ordering, only to be let down.
Picked up a copy in town, Im at home but have more work to do yet zzz
Looking forward to settling down to give it a whirl tonight

Not sure why there have been problems with Amazon mine turned up Thursday morning from them, luck of the the draw perhaps?
Yup, guess so.Imagine how unhappy THIS girl would be, if her pre-ordered copy didnt turn up today
You'll need to turn your speakers up to catch the background conversation...

How does it compare with Oblivion?
I'll share my own opinion, but first... for those who asked, no crashes or death problems on my PS3. No idea why some of us had problems, some not.Apologies for the long winded post - a few folk did ask for an opinion. Obviously if you have the game, there is no need read my comments
Im torn between finding it very similar to Oblivion and not as exciting or fresh as Oblivion was the first time I ever played it. It is in may ways very much Oblivion 2.0
However, having played for several hours (I should mention that Im now thoroughly bored with Oblivion) Im finding Skyrim so fresh I think I can love it all over again.
Absolutely everything is better, from the lock picking experience, getting pulled by the current when in water, the surprising array of creatures (some of which you wont be able to kill, others you can) and the hugely improved visuals. Graphics, modeling and textures are all better. Ive only explored one dungeon but it was vastly bigger and much, much more varied than Oblivion dungeons.
The character feels more real, and not like a childs toy bouncing when running down a steep slope. Close combat is more fun, spellcasting is much more enjoyable and the number of special effects in the game (water, fog, proper swirling mist, bubbling brooks and blown snow) really do seem to add so much to the game at every single turn, that despite feeling very much like Oblivion, it often doesnt.
The need to ferry weapons back and forth to shops to earn gold seems dimished as does buying and selling general clobber to raise cash. Gold and arrows can be carried in unlimited amounts and everything just feels better.
The only bugs Ive found are two... an invisible character talking to me (camera wouldnt pan to face him) and mammoths running on top of the small stone building I was in, levitating in the air. Nothing else.
It may feel like an Oblivion 2.0 at times, I do find the lengthy character dialogues boring and I really dont like the feel of the new map, but being as bored of oblivion as I am, I found this very easy to get into - its that fresh, whereas the expansion pack I had for oblivion was a pile of tosh and did nothing whatsoever to refresh the game, it only provided more of the same.
HTH a few folk.
All imho of course.

should you change direction and you can't get all perks over time either, so don't go too radical
Can someone explain in detail why? Is there a limit on how much levelling up one can do? If yes, how so and why? I imagined gameplay = levelling up, even if it did slow down. Sounds like you are saying there is a limit, of sorts?2 dragons appeared whilst I was alone on top of a mountain.
The powerful mage who is following/helping me was quite a way behind me, so I summoned a fire antorak(sp) and ran down the mountain into the woods after failing to kill it alone.
Long story short, of the two dragons, only one remained. We killed it. But Im not sure if the other one is dead and if a soul is waiting to be absorbed, or not. Theres bugger all on the map to tell me where a dead dragon lies.
Not sure if it was killed, unless it flew off (do they fly away once initiating a fight?).
One more Q: Are there unlimited or limited dragons in the game?

I found a place close to Whiterun called Vulenruud (sp?) head right out of the main gate and head towards the hills around that area. You start a quest by reading a box in the entrance and you have to get 2 cermonial weapons, one of the guys guarding as an ebony bow....bloddy hard
I found some place which may have been spelt Vulenruud. Its been a while since I last played, but there was a (forget his name) master/lord dreagur er dreagur(sp)... with full health, level 24, 120 armour rating (ish) he kills me with one single arrow. I also cant shoot him, as he dodges the arrows I shoot at him.
So I left.
Anyone else find him harder to kill than a dragon/troll/etc?

What is the max character level? Im 24, but still have absolutely no idea where I want to go, so my character if fairly well balanced at the moment.Just how "hold back!" should one be, on investing perks into becoming new skills?
I read earlier that its possible to get stats over 100, the example was smithing, which needed to be 196 to create dragon armour.
Is that correct, that stats can go above 100, as high as nearly 200?

Have you got the Pickpocket perk 'Many Pockets', as that gives you another 100 capacity - and if you use the capacity of your follower you can carry a lot more.
Ive had 2 followers, and whilst Im pretty sure they both fell down, nearly died, but got up again... Im pretty sure they cant be killed. Only knocked out like in oblivion. Am I right or wrong?Either way, there is no sign of either of them.
One of them was loaded up with a dozen pieces of dragon bone/scales etc when he/she vanished, too.
Any idea why they might have vanished?

As in Oblivion if you get bitten there is always a message when it happens on the top of the screen if you can leave straight away get to a shrine and cleanse yourself it's worked about 10 times for me, just note where it is as they are not marked on the map
There's one in Whiterun in the Temple of Kynareth. Nice and easy to get to (haven't tried it for curing diseases but I assume it works?)Questions
1: Can you become a werewolf, play as one, then turn back a week or two later?
2: Is there a downside? Someone who is one, is recommending I become one.
Or is it an "if you turn, there is no going back" type affair?
