F1 2012 - Official Thread
Discussion
Hi.
It is getting to that time of year again where the guys at Codemasters bring out another stunning game (based on F1 2011) and by looking at these two videos it seems as though they will succeed again.
It seems most things at this time are still in the development stage but looking at the video's it appears that you can set where you want the brake bias which is a great feature. It still has DRS & KERS which is a subject that has caused conflict and debate in the past but real Formula One cars have it so I think it should stay and it something else to play with. I wonder if it will be a closer race for the championship like this years.
The release date is September 21st 2012 so who will be buying it, bearing in mind a couple of games like Forza Horizon will be out around that time aswell.

I had a quick play earlier before I popped out. I like the graphics, small details that they put into certain off track parts. I also like some new additions.
I dislike the size of the rear wing while looking back (McLaren) and in the short amount of time I had it took an age to get the wheel-spin without any aids on - that may change with time though.

Nice glitch with the sound on the young driver test when you leave the pits. How do they miss things like this?!
My thoughts aswell. I think the two things that bug me at the moment is the size of the rear wing while looking back and that pit exit noise. Mostly good update, maybe not a whole new game but I may rent it to get some achievements and a boost before I actually buy it.
Regarding the DRS crashes in 2011, that was quite fun with some corrections you could make and you feel like a king once you regain control in style.

Anyone else struggling with the handling? I kept failing my tests because of it, I guess it's just weird because I normally place Forza 4
I did find the handling quite strange or rather harder to drive smooth on demo - have they fixed the pit lane exit sound in the retail version? I may get it tomorrow - just from Blockbuster as the reviews seem luke-warm.

I think my username is R300will so if any PS3 users want their arses handing to them (not in a gay way)
.... or the rear is going to step out then surely you need a mix around with the words and you should have said; learn how to handle your arse when you get it out. (not in a gay way) Apologies, tiredness and boredom are taking over!
I have it, and I dislike it at the moment.
It handling takes a hell of a lot of understanding and I am in the Torro Rosso and my, oh my, is it slow and the sound is quite poor IMO. It may not be slow, but feels it. I have it on the hardest setting with no aids but I cannot put a decent lap together as it understeers like a FWD. I tried tweaking the settings but with minimal gains. I find I am having to put two wheels on the grass to get a decent speed but even then you are trying to guess how it will handle once back on track. Then, I think the worst sin of all - the auto slow-down off track is doing my head in. It really annoyed me when I (and lets face it, we all make mistakes) get sideways behind another car and to prevent an accident I correct it but off track. I then have the computer controlling the throttle inputs for me while trying to save it. Grr! I hope some of the above will fade with time but I am not liking this at all at the moment.
I will report back when some time has gone into the game.

I am enjoying it. I played a fair bit tonight and I am on Champions Mode and even if it is a tad easy (even on Hard) I like the idea behind it and trying to replicate a great race ending.
I still try and floor it exiting some corners and then see cars behind, normally slowing and swerving.
