I massively regret not getting and playing the Collection, so I'm going in to this as a 'new to the series' player.

However as it's by Naughty Dog, I have high hopes smile

I'll probably pick it up at lunch, can't get Same Day delivery from Prime, I assume they're fulfilling all the preorders today. Game are £5 more than everywhere else so I'll try Sainsbury's / Smyths at lunch.

Digital are more expensive and can't be sold / swapped / borrowed.

It's useful in the way that you can have the game straight away, although you still need a decent, stable internet connection to download the game then any patches.

If downloads on the PSN store were, say, 75% of the retail version then I'd probably buy them no questions asked. But this game for example is £50 on PSN and £42 in the shop around the corner, and in either instance I won't be playing until about 7pm tonight.

Plus I've always liked having a shelf full of games next to my console / TV, been that way for every Playsation or other console I've owned really, I like having the physical collection.

There was rumours recently of them introducing the ability to 'sell' digital games for about 20% back of the RRP, so it effectively just blocks or deletes the game and you get some money back.

I think that would be starting point but equal pricing is the first thing they need to address.

The best bit of the game that I've seen is ... How there is a PS1 and you play Crash Bandicoot!
Yes! That was a brilliant touch!

But agree with the above comments so far, I've just started chapter 8, need to get to bed though, but it's a big thumbs up from me so far.

I really like the gameplay, I assume it'll get more difficult and involved as the game progresses but the climbing mechanics, gunplay etc are good. The graphics are superb, this is next gen for sure and a great sign of what the PS4 can do. Hats off to Naughty Dog though too, they make a stunning game, this is like The Last Of Us on acid - the detail on the skin, the facial expressions... It's crazy to think how far they've come with this stuff.

Definitely worth picking it up. FYI Game and Sainsburys had it for £47 near me, Smyths were £42. Amazon were £42 too but I wanted it today and Prime wouldn't deliver Same Day for a new game.

Yeah pretty much, I haven't played the previous games, but this stands of its own. It has to really - it's the first one on PS4, they can't alienate new players that might be potential customers for the new bundle.

It references the previous games nicely, so I'm sort of aware of the past exploits but this is definitely its own chapter in the series.

I'm generally playing in stealth mode anyway unless forced into a gunfight.

Can't say how it compares to previous games, but I expected an inventory of sorts, or perhaps a Last Of Us style crafting system.

But I think the minimalism actually works well. An aiming reticle would be useful but the lack of HUD etc does improve the immersion.

I'm on Chapter 10 now I believe.

Small thing that annoys me, is how some of the climbing is scripted.

What I mean is, although you have some freedom with which path you take to get somewhere, there are times when Nathan refuses to do something simple. Like you'll be standing below a ledge a couple of feet higher that you, and pressing the jump button results in a half-arsed barely lift off the ground.

Whereas when you're hanging off a rock face by one hand, you can muster the strength to launch vertically several feet, or jump across a gap probably 15-foot wide with little to no run up.

It's a little too forced in that respect - like the game is saying 'this IS the way you go, so we will make it so', 'this is NOT the way you go, so we'll stop you doing so', feels a bit like the game is holding your hand.

But overall that's a minor criticism, it's a very good game, hope to have it finished by the end of the week.

Although now my life is empty as I need a new story-based game to play. :-(
Probably a daft question, but have you played The Last Of Us?

Is Sims 4 available on PS4?
No just PC/Mac. It's about £20 new, but they're on ebay as digital downloads (via Origin accounts) for about £7. Works on either OS.
