I haven't seen a thread about this, and since the pre-orders start tomorrow, I thought I would start one.

Is anyone interested in this hybrid console-handheld device?

It will cost £280, which is in a similar range to the more powerful (but not portable) competition. I think the battery life and third party support will be key to its success in my opinion.

Update after the conference (which can be seen at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ntzz8O7SpWs)
  • March 3rd release date
  • £280 (inc. dock, charger, hdmi cable etc. but without a bundled game)
  • Online will need a subscription similar to psn/xboxlive
  • No region lock
  • Between 2.5 - 6 hours battery life
  • There appears to be only 2 launch games - Zelda and '1-2 Switch'

In my post 4am haze after watching the presentation I decided to pre-order it. Now that I have sobered up I'm considering cancelling it.
Firstly, I think it's too expensive, especially compared to the competition. You could argue it is different because it is portable, but that's only for 2.5 hours before the battery is flat. Add another £50 for a game and it looks even worse.
Secondly, the launch lineup appears to be two games. Whilst one of those is Zelda, I don't think it's good enough considering Nintendo stopped working on the WiiU to prepare.

I think it would be prudent to wait a few months for the price to reduced and for some bundles (and games!) to be released.

Read today on Engadget that it'll run at 900p in the dock, 720p portable and locked at 30fps for both.
When the rest of the world have their eyes on 4k and VR?

FFS.
It depends on the game. For example Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario Odyssey are reportedly 1080@60fps.
