I've got it, I'm really not very good. I think I need to be more aggressive at the start. At present I tend to land somewhere remote, loot 2-4 buildings and then hole-up, but this leaves me short later in the game as I don't often have enough equipment to compete when it gets down to ~25 players remaining.
This isn't a bad strategy actually. A lot of people go to the higher loot areas straight off the plane get in a fight and get killed. By the time you have been to a few clusters of houses you can be fully geared and half of the players are dead too making it easier to get a higher score. I tend to go to more than four houses though. Had a few games last night myself actually for the first time in a couple of weeks.
Only game to note was one where I dropped, looted a compound and then the airdrop landed in a field next to me, ran and grabbed it, somehow dodging some distant sniper shots while doing so. Picked up an AWM with an 8x in the box. Easy win from here on out I say . The circle then lands over the bridge and I have to sprint for it and luckily there is a buggy which i jump in and head over the bridge luckily there were no campers!!!, head to a woody area and watch for people in boats. Manage to get a couple of long range kills due to the sheer firepower of the 1 shot AWM. The circle then passes me and I realise I have forgotten all about it.
Dead due to circle, balls.

Got down to the last two last night.
circle ended up being a couple of trees, bushes, some grass and a ridge, I was on the ridge looking down, I only needed to see the other guy from the ridge and I had the advantage, a minute goes by and I cant locate him, circle now cuts the ridge off, forcing me down, I start shooting at bushes in the hope he is in one, no luck, as I move down towards a tree, He had been behind it the whole time, strafing round the tree to make sure wherever I was on the ridge I couldn't see him. I had completely dominated upto that point aswell, I hate them damp squib endings that favour the camper. I was running up and down the ridge, and rather than go for a shot on me, he waited.

Sounds like he had the right idea and outsmarted you.
He did, he won Although the circle played a large role in what happened, if it fell on me he would have had to move, therefore me having the advantage being on the ridge, if the circle fell on him, which it did, he had the advantage as I was walking into an open area where he was hidden. So ultimately the circle decided our fates. My location on the ridge was never meant to be hidden, by having the ridge I had the advantage and was playing on that, unfortunately it didnt pay off.

I have a couple of questions about the squad gameplay;
1) max squad size?
4
2) how do you keep with your squad mates when skydiving in to the map?
You can see them on the map "Press M" and minimap
3) can you delay the skydive to see where other enemies are going?
the plane travels across the map and you can jump out whenever takes your fancy, depending on the flight path, people usually jump out near large cities and other popular areas, with 4/5 AFK players being chucked out at the end of the planes path. I would recommend, picking a central compound 70-80% of the way through the planes path for least players around you.

It comes with playing it more, we were all rubbish at the start (go back to some of his older videos) and its just something you get with playing it more.
Edit: I should mention I have approx 100 hours on this and I still am never 100% sure where a first shot comes from, its usually the 2nd or 3rd shot when I manage to work it out.
