Project Cars - PS4 vs PC
Discussion
Hi - I've got a pretty decent PC setup with a GTX970, feedback wheel, 5.1 sound etc, and enjoy playing it way too late on a school night...
One of the reasons I'm often there til 2am is down to the PC.. updates.. crashes etc.. .so considering going the PS4 route & wheel
How well does it compare, aurally & visually ?

Right.. good to know. Having spent 6 hrs+ this week making the PC work again (Windows re-install, GTX & Logitech wheel drivers, Game install) I'm going to give one more go.. if it's not 100% good it'll be looking for a new home!
Just seen my G27 wheel wont work on a PS4 which is annoying. Oh well, UPGRADE OPP!

Nah. Game bombed a couple of times last night & failed to load Le Mans at all, all of a sudden
I'm sure I *could* get it working fine with time, but time I dont have.
I'll look at getting the G27 working with my PS4, or failing that get a G29 or similar.
I do expect the visuals wont quite compare to the PC (I've been running at mostly high & it looks properly stunning) but it'll look a lot better than the bloody error dialogues.

Well, found a registry hack on some site - posted by a chap who was suffering similar issue. Played for 90 mins lsat night (well, this morning oops) without a hiccup.
I'll keep the PS4 version as a backup - it's got a few more cars so will get a bit of use.
Think biggest difference I feel is the textures; the GTX card has (iirc) 4GB for this .. doubt PS4 can match this. On Ultra it's like watching racing on telly.

It's interesting that you can see a difference. I only have PS4 so can't comment, but I personally think there is a limit these games can get too with how it "looks". When I'm concentrating on a hot lap (Stoopid challenges does that to you !), I really doubt I could tell the difference between PS4 and some super HD set-up. I'm so focussed on the car, the corner, the controls I don't even notice my wife waving frantically at me that dinner is ready :-).
Now I've both I'll revert back to PS4 as/when my PC turns evil again. I know what you mean about getting hung up on the visuals; though with my projector setup in the darkened garage, it's a kinda 'showcase' piece & I really do marvel at the PC's version, when settings are on Ultra. The frame rate's fine - which I admit being surprised about.
I ran the NVIDIA auto callibrate application (outside of the game) that adjust the dozens of game video settings, promising best compromise of quality vs fps. Was fine. Then I though sod it, let's drag the NVIDIA slider all the way over to max quality. Looked 'mazin & fps still silky smooth. I think only once I noticed any fps drop, when heavy rain was on the windscreen expect there's more to process.
It's only an small form factor liquid cooled i5 PC, but there's a nice fat GTX 970 card shoved in there.
Also It's giving a single 1080 output so less maths than multiscreens or VR.

Yes the T300 is a better wheel, but it's also double the price without the shifter (and there's no point because you only get 2 pedals and most people feel the need to upgrade them). In my opinion it's not double the wheel. You own a G27 so you know how good it is, the G29 is very similar, just modified to work on PS4.
The answer is obviously how much do you want to spend...if you're going to splurge I'd go with a PC upgrade and stick with that. Far more options to upgrade the experience than console. You're only missing out on Gran Turismo after all.
I have triple screens, transponders with vibration for car feel, oculus rift (when it's working). I'm actually thinking of selling the PS4 and G29, mainly because GT Sport Beta has been pretty disappointing so far and I've hardly used it. Everything else I can play on PC and get a much better experience.
