Destiny 2 (PS4)
Discussion
Seeing as we had one for Destiny, I thought I'd start a new one for Destiny 2 as it's not that far out now

I think I was one of maybe three people on my friends list who started with a Titan, the Sentinel subclass. Made it through the whole "Homecoming" mission without knowing how to throw the darn Captain America shield (yep, I didn't read the instructions!). When I did get to throw it whilst in PvP later on, you seemingly could only do so once??
Disappointed that you can't re-run that mission again once you've run it the first time (unless you choose another character). I'd like to use that mission to get to grips with some of the mechanics / weapons, etc
Supers took ages to charge as did grenades. Looked very nice to my eyes (non Pro, normal HD)
The railgun is rubbish in PvP, takes far too long to charge up to be useful. We all agreed the "Nightshade" pulse rifle is pretty good. The Sweet Business exotic auto rifle is OK, but it spins up like a minigun which you have to account for. I liked the new grenade launchers, but it's actually quite easy to miss with them
Gonna run through the story mission as a warlock and hunter for the sake of it and will happily give the strike another few goes with friends, but erm, there isn't a lot to keep to you around for more than a day or two is there?
Social space (The Farm) is available to explore for one hour only on Sunday from 6pm UK time

Re the slow grenades and super charges, isn't that just because we're at the lowest level for everything?
They are slow to charge in Destiny 1 if you've only got basic kit too!
Don't think so because INT/STR/DIS is no longer a thing in D2, so you can't change the cooldowns that way. I guess some of the "real" gear might have perks to help, but we don't know yet of courseThey are slow to charge in Destiny 1 if you've only got basic kit too!
Lot of people on Reddit have posted similar concerns. Bit crap you only get your super a couple of times in the entire mission I thought and sometimes not at all in a PvP match
PvP "balance" already affecting PvE? I really hope not
Ammo drop rates are off too but that has already been acknowledged and will be adjusted for full release
Bump!

Anyone found any good deals for the game? I'm mainly interested in the standalone game, I try not to pre-order DLC nowadays.
Haven't seen any advertised. Went with PS store pre-order including the expansion pass this time around and I know that a few D1 regulars / veterans have done the sameFor those new to the Destiny franchise, you'll need a PS+ subscription to play quite a lot of the content
Sony has already announced that the price of the annual subscription is rising from £39.99 to £49.99 after 31st August, so if you wait until after D2 launches you'll be paying another tenner
The good news is that there is an offer currently on the Playstation Store where if you buy an annual subscription, you'll get 15 months instead of 12 and all for the current lower price
For existing subscribers, you don't have to wait until your current sub runs out to benefit from this deal. Buy it now and 15 months gets added on to your current sub end date. Mine was due to run out on 20th Sep, but I bought the offer today and now it runs to Dec 2018
Of course, you can buy a smaller subscription if you are unsure, but for those in it for the long run, hopefully this will be useful information
See you all in two weeks

I read something about having to do the campaign solo before you could replay the game in co op which put me off if true. Playing through D1 the first time around with my brother and mates was most of the fun!
Been playing D2 today and aside from the early couple of missions, which are done quickly, you can team up more or less straightaway and play the campaign co-opXur - despite my earlier disinformation on the PSN chat, the weapon costs 29 legendary shards and the armour 23. I blame the fact that I have precisely 52 shards at the moment and totally misread it
The weapon he is selling, Merciless, is definitely worth a buy. It's a yellow bar boss melter

Also, it's worth keeping early legendaries too until you get used to the (fixed) rolls to determine what to keep and what to shard, depending on your play style and preferences. There are 200 slots in the Vault so plenty of space to store everything and decide later
Never, ever bin exotics unless they are duplicates, low power and can't be used by not yet started alts. Even then I have a problem doing so, but then that's probably why I ran out of space in D1 ....

I keep saying that you shouldn't mess with that useless Hunter class, sooner or later they'll screw you over at a crucial moment or steal your gear
That being said, must have been a horrible feeling of realisation ...
In other news, D2 servers will be offline for maintenance AGAIN tomorrow from 2 to 8pm UK time
Also, thanks to the Clan, I received the Raid rocket launcher from an engram this morning. I just need another launcher of a decent power that I can infuse into it so I can actually use it

I also don't necessarily like the mechanic-heavy nature of some of the encounters, which seems to lean a little too heavily towards King's Fall for my liking
Interesting observation this. As you know, I've only done the first door unlock encounter but everything I've heard and read about this Raid suggests that it is more like King's Fall than any of the others. Long, lots of mechanics, unforgiving, etc, etc. I still haven't seen any spoilers though, so I have no idea what comes nextThis is a bad thing, I disliked King's Fall and the fact that Leviathan seemingly takes hours to complete will take it out of the realm of the casual player and those that simply can't allocate that much time in one sitting (me, for instance). Only those that can throw hours and hours at normal mode will get to learn the mechanics meaning that hard mode will be off limits for everyone else - it'll be like Wrath of the Machine all over again, never did do normal mode for that one and hard mode just ended up being frustrating because I had little clue as to what was going on most of the time
Too bad, I was hoping more for a "let's have a laugh as a group" type of Raid experience not a multi hour sweat fest which will only get worse as and when hard mode releases - the lack of drops is also pretty short sighted for such a prolonged experience

It's called King's Shadow. It's one of the four quests that are unlocked when you finished the main story/hit level 20. I'm not sure if it gives an exotic weapon quest.
The quest asks you to investigate why the Taken are messing with the Vex. The last boss is a real tough Taken Knight with waves of Taken cannon fodder
Hmm, can't even recall that one but I'm heading to that point with my Warlock now so I'll keep an eye out for it. Also, the Taken in general are the worst enemy type ever to be put into Destiny 1 or 2, they are so infuriating in generalThe quest asks you to investigate why the Taken are messing with the Vex. I want to do the Raid but only have 3 mates who have Destiny 2.
Im guessing its nigh on impossible with a 4 man fireteam. Currently a 281 power but could go up to 283 with a gear change.
Quite a lot of the PH crew on here are in a D2 clan called "Vex Pistols". Can be a good way to find others to team up with without having to resort to LFG and the likeIm guessing its nigh on impossible with a 4 man fireteam. Currently a 281 power but could go up to 283 with a gear change.
If you and your mates are interested, drop a note here with your PSN names and I'll send you all invites
That goes for anyone else on here who is actively playing the game
My PSN tag is same as on here too

Ill have a word about the clan. We currently have a 3 man clan lol so we are not really getting any benefit. We have finished this weeks nightfall though with about 10 seconds left. It was close.
Not sure how we are supposed to shave 5 minutes of it. We thought our stratagy was ok but obviously not. We got to the final boss with 6 minutes remaining so we have a lot of time to shave off.
Cool, whatever works for you guys Not sure how we are supposed to shave 5 minutes of it. We thought our stratagy was ok but obviously not. We got to the final boss with 6 minutes remaining so we have a lot of time to shave off.
Ah yes, the Nightfall. I can testify that it can be done with 5 mins left but it does get ridiculously hectic at the end. You need to be dropping into the final boss with around 10 mins to go and the the trick is to skip sections entirely (the drop down section and the bit with the witch just before the spinning lasers, just try and leg it past them)
There were quite a lot of people on yesterday afternoon ready to Raid, so many in fact that at one point we thought we may get enough for two, yes two, teams! Sadly, that didn't happen, but as more people hit higher power levels, hopefully there should be a fair number about
280 is plenty to get started with the Raid, more important is having 6 players and not to take it too seriously (which, if you play with us lot, shouldn't be difficult). Even if only the first encounter or two is completed, it's worth having a crack at it to gain knowledge and experience if nothing else
We've been having difficulty simply getting the numbers to get an attempt started
