For me, it has to be The Witcher 3. Everyone seems to rave about this game, it's story, the graphics, gameplay etc., but I just can't get on with it. I've put over 30 hours into it and I'm not hooked. Playing it seems like a bind & it's never been something I look forward to playing. Maybe it doesn't help having never played any of the other Witcher games, but then again I've never played any Elder Scrolls games or Uncharted games (before playing 4) and I love them. Compare that to Skyrim where I played over 300 hours on the 1st play & over 100 so far on the second & I'm still enjoying it...

So, what's your "elephant in the room" game?

Blimey! I thought it was just me with the Witcher...

What's interesting is the mix of games that people get or don't. One thing that shows though it its the "really big" titles - Witcher, Uncharted, Last of Us, Fallout etc. I'm considering Fallout 4 and Horizon Dawn as my next couple of games. I love Skyrim & the "open world make your own story" aspect of it, so both of those games appeal - but not to everyone it would seem!

Are the expectations greater for the big name titles hence we become disappointed when they aren't as great as we expected?

I think i'm getting to old for video games. frown
Maybe that's something to do with it - that and online multiplayer. My son (10) plays Plants vs Zombies on the PS4 with a load of his school mates. I've tried playing it, and last about 20 seconds before getting killed by a corn on the cob. My son plays it & can turn into a parrot somehow. He'll play Minecraft battlemode with his mates & is very good at it - I play it and again, I'm dead in 20 seconds.

The Call of Duty type shooting games leave me cold & I'm saddened by the latest GT being predominantly online - I'm 44 and want to play a video game as a way of escapism, not get my arse handed to me on a plate by a 13 year old from Biddlybong in Idaho.

Butterface mentioned Skyrim before - first time I tried that on the PS3 I just couldn't get into it. Tried it again on the PS4 (Mrs bought it for me last Xmas & it was very cheap!) and I've loved it this time.

Another one I've thought of are the MGS games. Loved the first one on the PS1, liked the ones on PS2 (one with Raiden in and the other one where you ate snakes) but tried the one on PS3 (starts in a city in the Middle East) a few times and never got into it. There's a "free" one available to download at the moment on PS4 and I just haven't bothered.

GTA5 Online - Bought this on PS4 having not played it in ages after my 360 broke thinking online would be awesome. Made a character and then spent about an hour messing about before I got bored. Played through the story again instead and really enjoyed it!
Same here. Loved the story, didn't love the online bit. Personally, I like games as an "escape" and don't see the attraction in playing with other people. My son (10) however loves it. Maybe it's an age thing?

really enjoyed the first 3 Uncharted. Yet I've given up on Uncharted 4 and I'm only a couple of hours in.
I'm exactly the opposite. I'd never played any of the Uncharted games & when we got a PS4 it came bundled with it. I loved it - the story, the jumping about, the scenery etc.

I then bought the "remastered" Uncharted 1-3 and didn't enjoy them anywhere near as much. I think maybe because the storyline in Uncharted 4 was (sort of) believable, whereas the storyline in the others (zombie Nazi people etc.) wasn't.
