Oh. That's just really confusing then. I thought it was a holiday runout special.

Too much cocaine for the marketing team.
Scarlett was always a codename/development handle, MS were bound to stick with a traditional X related theme.

I get that, but launching it just before people buy big ticket consumer stuff?
It's the perfect time to launch surely? Also if they announce it now they'll maybe deter a few people that are sat on the fence from buying a PS5?

I suspect I will stick to the Playstation 5.. Not for any good reason but just because that is what I always have bought!
Same here really, except I’m in the Xbox camp.

EA access pass is going to be added to game pass.

For the money it offers best VFM.

I must be in the minority, but backwards compatibility is not high on my own requirements list. Reviewers seem to make a big deal about it.
I'm the same, find it laughable how much of a fuss is made about it

I'll spend £500 on a new all powerful console and play some PS3/360 games on it

I'm thinking Amazon or MS direct straight up £450 then maybe a month of All Access when it arrives to sample some games in 4K before I commit to them

You own it from day 1 in full - it’s an unsecured 0% deal

Do you pay carpet right or whichever carpet supplier of your choose cash upfront over the 0% deals ditto sofas beds etc ?
You're also paying for 24 months of Ultimate Pass at full whack

Actually you’re not, it’s (marginally) cheaper that the standard monthly price. But I’ve done the sums elsewhere already in this thread, so I’m not doing them again. It is more expensive than buying Ultimate from CD keys however.

Sure, All Access isn’t right for everyone, but for the majority, there really isn’t much in it between paying up front, or by installments. And MS know that, it shows in the pricing.
Yes sorry I did read and appreciate your post, I've got the money so buying one outright just makes more sense to me and I have a bit more control about if I want ultimate or not and can go to CDKeys etc

I have an aversion to credit

Amazon and Microsoft store for me

I have a feeling Game and Smyths will get hammered due to the All Access

Ordered one via Amazon, it seems they're also doing 40% off Xbox Game Pass Ultimate 3 Months.

Struggled to place an order on Microsoft.com - kept timing out etc. I may well have a pre-order here, need to check for confirmation emails.
Same journey as me

Did you need to do the 40% thing there and then? I was so excited I just clicked through on the console and ordered it

MS store kept crashing on basket for me

Not sure if this was posted during the flurry of order talk but Microsoft have bought Bethesda (parent company Zenimax Media), $7.5 billion, could it mean Doom / Fallout / Castle Wolfenstein and most importantly The Elder Scrolls all become MS exclusive...

Still trying to pre order my Series X!

I went for Tesco as I was between Amazon and them. Got my pre order in at 8:03 on Tesco when the amazon link still wasnt live.

I assume more pre orders are going to pop up as consoles are produced in the lead up to launch?
This is the assumption for both Xbox and PS5 but who knows, glad I have secured mine just in case
