July 2012 - Photo Challenge - The Race - Entries Thread
Discussion
This is the entry thread for the monthly challenge competition:
The theme this month is the 'The Race' mainly as I will be watching the Tour De France and going to Classic Le Mans!
However of course it's up to you to interpret that theme any way you want
Rules
The photos taken must be your own work
The shot MUST be taken this month, with the closing date being midnight on the last day of the Challenge month
The exif must be posted with your shot
The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month
The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for following month and judges it at the end of the month
The Challenge for next month should be generic, as not everyone has access to zoom, macro, specialist lenses. It should be shots that everyone is capable of achieving with the bare essentials.
There will be two threads that need starting: The Entries thread to commence same time as Discussion thread. In the Entries thread only one picture should be entered. Any others you wish to discuss should be posted in the Discussion thread.
All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.
Photos entered should be no bigger than 750 pixels wide for a landscape photo and 600 pixels high for a portrait photo. Links to larger versions are permissible.

Not a huge entry this month, but it did promote a car based field which makes a change for this section of Pistonheads!
3rd place goes to this unconventionally framed but interesting panning shot from Kev:

...but having spent many wasted hours in the stands trying to get a decent night panning shot at CLM I can fully appreciate the effort that went into this, so over to Tim-b for next month!
Also if only the competition was last month then TheFungle may have snatched it with his TDF picture, lovely!

Capturing the rare heat haze at this year's CLM makes this shot from Furtive worthy of second place on it's own! But also captures the best Plateau from the weekend.furtive said:
