Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade my camera body. I've had a Nikon D60 for the best part of 10 years and learnt the ropes with it. I feel proficient my photography and the camera is lasting very well, however the low resolution and dynamic range is hindering my final images.

More often that not I find myself photographing landscapes or cars, or a combination of the two, regualrly in low light situations so I'm sorely tempted to move to full frame with a D750.

Full frame is forcing my hand into a new wide angle lens too, namely a Nikkor 14-24mm f2.8 but the cost of everything combined is intimidating to say the least.

Firstly, will I regret it? I've read nothing but positive things.

Secondly, whats the best method of protecting my investment? I'm considering buying from Jessops as I've used them in the past but their extended care plan seems limited, namely the lack of theft cover.

I'm interested to hear people's thoughts. I wouldn't discount any sensible recommendations for alternative options and I've briefly researched the D500 as a crop option instead of the D750 but feel I might need to upgrade my glass regardless.

Thanks in advance.

I already have a 50mm and with the 10-20mm I have as well, those are really the only two lenses I use. I’ll look to sell the 10-20mm and keep the 50mm.

I’m not too familiar with the grey market but I’ve googled HDEW today and I couldn potentially save around £600 which is very appealing.

What are the drawbacks?

Thank you for the replies so far. A few more questions;

Is resale value affected more so, being imported?

Having read up on the Panamoz 3 year warranty, it seems you're instructed to visit an authorised repair shop should a fault arise after 14 days. Is this standard practise for online retailers or would the camera or lens go back to Nikon for repair if it wasn't a grey market import?

I've come to a decision that I'll buy a UK body from the London camera exchange. They're offering to buy my old kit and I'm getting a small discount on the new body, plus 5% back on my credit card so taking this into consideration, I'm getting very close to the grey market price. I'll buy it this week and source a lens at a later date.

My only question is now, what alternative lenses should I consider to the Nikkor 14-24 f2.8? The Tamron was a good should, but I do like to use filters and as far as I'm aware, there's no system to work with this lens. Correct me if I'm wrong as it's a great option, otherwise.

Is there a wide angle out there I should be looking at given my criteria of landscape photography with a regular filter system?

Depends what you do with it though. What do you use your wide angle for normally?
Landscape really. I very rarely photograph anything else.
