The theme for the April competition is:

Photojournalism/Editorial

Bit of a tricky one this month for you guys and gals to think about (sorry), its something I am passionate about anyway, lets see some images that communicate news/big events, this could be a national event/international, an image that wouldn't look out of place on a news article or documentary editorial....images could portray the emotion of the event maybe, who knows - lets see what you got?

Rules:

The photos taken must be your own work and can be taken at anytime, but please get out with your gear if you have time.
The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month.
The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for the following month and judges it at the end of the month.
Entries and discussion on this single thread, please.
All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.
Photos entered can be as large as you like (unless the mods step in). PH doesn't seem to squash pictures like it used to and it's not like we have hundreds of entries.

Does that include sports events?
I don't see why not, it is journalism and reporting, so matches the brief smile

Right people, some great entries this month and I am really happy many took on this challenge as it wasn't the easiest brief (probably why we have only a few submissions), I really enjoyed looking through them.

Difficult one to judge aswell so I'm concentrating on the photo-journalistic approach and one that tells a story was the main thing for me...

In 3rd place, (bramley) for the "..children wait eagerly for a cup of porridge" really like this one, personally and poignantly, love the color and atmosphere of this, and very jealous you have visited this place. Great capture!

In 2nd place, (realjv) for the "Gagged image of lady"...Very on topic, good composition, with the subject looking your way, nice image and symbolizes american affairs at the moment for some.

And in 1st place, (C&C) for the London Protest image, this image speaks a thousand words, with the capture of the business man, talking to the protester. Could be used in such different iterations for news and reportage (good and bad). Nice one.

So congrats (C&C), over to you for May smile
