The theme for the September competition is:

"Transport"

Feel free to interpret this a widely as you like, so long as there is some link to transport.
It could be a photo of a car part, a railway track, boat on a river, or luggage at an airport.
Hopefully it's a wide enough brief, so do try to get out there and take some new photos this month.

Also, one other thought which may help/be of interest, for those posting images where the hosting does not make exif info available, would people be kind enough to put a note under their photo indicating what camera, lens, ISO, shutter speed, and aperture were used?

Good luck everyone.

Rules:
The photos taken must be your own work and can be taken at anytime, but please get out with your gear if you have time.
The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month.
The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for the following month and judges it at the end of the month.
Entries and discussion on this single thread, please.
All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.
Photos entered can be as large as you like, although bear in mind if too large, it may not be possible to see the whole image on some screens. Links to larger versions are permissible.

Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone who entered this month.

It was good to see a wide range of entries and an equally wide range of varieties of transport!

It's a tough one to judge, and there are quite a number of photos that could have won, however, as I have to pick a winner and it's down to personal choice (so not everyone would necessarily agree), my top 3 are as follows:

In 3rd place, is fourfoldroof's Country Lane shot.

Although it is not exactly a technically perfect photo, there's something about it that manages to convey a sense of recklessly barrelling along a deserted country lane in the summer - perhaps with Toad of Toad Hall at the wheel?

In 2nd spot, is B1GRLM's picture of the car transporter. The lack of modern references in the background helps give it a historical feel.

The ultimate transporter, original John Wyer Gulf Transporter for the 917s.
Nikon D800, 24-70 at 30mm F2.8.

... and the winner is LaSource with the really nice shot of the elephant. Love the dust and the slightly blurred tip of its trunk.

So congratulations LaSource, and over to you for the October competition subject.
