Sorry for the delay everyone.....I had not checked for a few days!

This months subject is: Landscapes. - (late edit: Just realised that this subject was used recently, but as we now have an entrant, it's too late to change).

It's not a subject that I shoot, but maybe the entries will inspire me to broaden my horizons (no pun intended).

Rules:

The photos taken must be your own work and can be taken at anytime, but please do get out with your gear if you have safe opportunity etc.

The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month.

You can only submit one, and only one photo.

The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for the following month and judges it at the end of the month.

Entries and discussion on this single thread please.

All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.

Photos entered can be as large as you like, although bear in mind if too large, it may not be possible to see the whole image on some screens. Links to larger versions are permissible.

To save time you could give the prize to GetCarter now and jump straight to October... nuts

Wow, some great shots from everybody this month and a genre of photography that although I do not use, I can certainly appreciate.........Well done to everyone who entered!

Now, i'm no expert, so the following comments are simply my own personal preferences!

So, in reverse order, here are the results from the French Jury (I live in France!)

in 3rd place...........Dan_1981..........a great shot, which for me, would have scored higher, if the image could have been taken further to the left, to position the ruin, further to the right.

in 2nd place..........Dogsey...........Shots of the Milky Way, always amaze me and this one for me, was only positioned second, due to the fact that I would personally prefer to have cropped out the 'bright' lights on the right hand side of the image, which I feel detract from the wonder of the Milky Way itself.

and the winner is: DailyHack........Simply love this shot, which instantly made me think of my favourite Chris Rea track 'The Road to Hell' - Image is nothing like the album cover, but definitely looks like 'The Road to Hell'.

Over to 'DailyHack', to set the October competition.
