Well I'm back from my trip, so I hope the delay in posting the results hasn't upset anyone. Having gone through the entries, all I can say is that I don't want to win another competition, because choosing a winner is really, really difficult.

First of all, honourable mentions.

I loved the pp treatment of this pic by ed1983, and the overflowing gutter that really summed up the brief. The only thing that let it down for me was the verticals being off.

I also liked this one from Chris.B for the simple reason that it made me chuckle.

4hero was also close to making my top three with this one that conveys that 'grey rainy day' feeling. If I had to make a comment it would be that the umbrella in the background is competing for my attention, and your main subject appears to have a white pole sticking out of his neck.

A final honourable mention to KenP. If your model is brave enough to pose for you in what looks like cold and miserable conditions, then I commend her for her stoicism, and I recommend that you look after her. The only comment I can make about the image is that I would have been happier if you hadn't cut her right foot off.

So, to my top three.

In third place is baz7175.
I think it's very brave for anyone to make a first post in these competitions, but right from the outset this image caught my attention. There is a simple elegance about it and I like the the differing lighting on either side of the staircase.

Second place goes to ginettag27.
Again I like the simpleness of the image, and I can imagine myself sheltering under a nearby awning having waited for the rain to stop. Very emotive.

Finally, first place, and heartiest congratulations to john185k.
John doesn't say if it was actually raining outside when he took the picture, but I've unexpectedly found myself inside a church when seeking shelter from inclement weather, and this picture just says 'Sanctuary' to me.

Well done to all entrants, there were some excellent images submitted, and it really was very difficult to choose a winner. Congratulations once again to john185k, and I look forward to seeing what subject you choose for October's competition.
