I've managed to pick up a good bonnet so its mostly chassis work. The engine ran really well I made a point of running that before I started to strip it.

It seems to have held water at some point in its life and the side where the bonnet was damaged seems to have rotten more than any where else on the car as the pics I post will show. I will be needing strange parts like seat belts etc due to being rotten around the fixings.

Sounds bad I know but its not really

Cheers

Hi Glen I'm in Chesterfield Derbyshire yeh I have wanted one forever spotted this and thought sod it 1 phone call later it was mine lol.

I know its in a bad way but I can do all the work myself so should keep costs down alittle.
Engine came out tonight so suspension next then off to blasters.

Question do I have it powder coated or sprayed (which would allow me to touch upif needed) nothing really in it cost wise either way it needs blasting.

Cheers

Little update guys had a hour in garage today working the triffle off and have now found the worst of it I hope anyway.

This side looks like it needs quite a bit of work so look's like some real carefull measuring, cutting and welding to be done lol.

Hi guys I'm in chesterfield derbyshire I was quite happy with thie chassis up until now lol.

The rest of the chassis is pretty good for its age most of the paint is still on as said steel is cheap as soon as the christmas break is over its off to be blasted I suppose thats when we'll find out whats what.

Due to the damage on this side to the bonnet area this part of the car has suffered big time and this is where all my extra problems seem to be coming from on top of the normal repair stuff that is.

Im still smiling when the garage door goes up though lol

Magpies I'll soon know how much work there is and if I still need the pipe tool you have thanks for the offer your a star lol.

While the chassis is away i've started stripping the body down ready for a big sand. I have lots of questions about replacing parts updating etc starting with the steering bush is there not a bearing update out there or is the rubber bush still used.

Cheers

Now that makes a bit more sence looking at the pictures and why I thought a bearing was needed lol. Mine seems to have the housing and the bush in place but no bearing.
Seems the steering colum has been removed but not put back correct, I feel I must say this car did not come with a steering rack on it I bought that off my mate Alan Whitiker,

Alan I'm looking at using a tried and tested rust remover/ protector while I have it back for repairs then prime and paint when finished.

Does anyone know why the wiring loom came outside the car in the tunnel area and did not just run around rear of the dash,

Cheers

Its just surface rust really as said the car has been stood awhile so everything looks bad lol.

Too late to turn back know anyway I'll just keep plodding away at it and asking my many questions to help find the best and hopefully cheepest way of getting it on the road lol.

This is her today almost ready for sanding down etc.

Just the roof, door panesl and door handles left and I think its ready for a sand.

Could do with some under bonnet pics guys they seem to be rare on the s side of things.

Cheers

Hi guys rest of chassis is really good and needs nothing more than paint. I think they rushed the blasting after ringing for me to collect only to get there to find out it wasn't done. Chassis number is still there but I agree a little more care would have been nice.

Im not worried about the repair although it does need more than I thought so a extra few mtrs of steel needed.

I'll try and post as repairs are done
