Hi.

Although my car and wiring are supposed to be a 2.8 I only have a wiring diagram for a 2.9

what exactly does fuse 'a' do labelled IGN Control?. It takes a feed from the ignition switch (along with 7 other fuses)

then goes to the Rev Counter (changing to red part way there)

After the rev counter to the cold start resistor.

I have a major problem with the fuse/relay holder and it is no longer in the car. I am looking for what could now be redundant wires

You have to remember I run a Cossy 24v and don't use the original speedo or any other ign parts, but until now I have used the original fuse box and wiring

Hi Alan

That looks very good - I presume you have waterproof / dust covers as this area will get wet

I think I am correct in saying that the main differences between old car wiring and new car wiring are in the current carrying capacities if the switches The old cars had switches capable of making/breaking much higher current and therefore not requiring much in the way of relays, whereas modern cars have lightweight switches and banks of relays.

However as these cars get older and the switches become weaker / dirtier etc. it may be a good idea to add relays to take current load off the switches which have high load = ignition / Interior Fan / Horn and even lighting. This is the road I'm going down over the next couple of winters while hopefully still using the car through the summer.

I've fitted an FIA battery cut off for almost everything and also a small fuse box in the boot fed directly from the battery to feed the clock / radio / central locking / one USB charging point.

That's a good way of doing it, did you wire up the other 2 small terminals to put a resistor in series with the alternator field so as to dump the field to ground when switching the master off with the engine running?
Yep - resistor came with the kit and a wiring diagram

Calling Penelope Stopit

I am now in the process of rewiring the S - Dash out and wiring on the floor.

I'll post some photos and what I intend to do, but willing to alter to give less volt drop and decent protection but on a budget

Hi Alan

I started another thread for my rewire.

All stopped at the mo due to full time working and weekend stuff already organised.
