Good morning

Just to make genuine TVR enthusiasts aware and suggest a proper inspection of the chassis,
also look at the mileage on the MOT history.

I bought a TVR S3 some time ago as a restoration project.

It had been to a repeatable TVR specialist who in his opinion said it needed a new chassis / major work. (common issue on older TVR’s) if you look at the MOT back in 2011 it says Chassis badly corroded, and back to 2009 the chassis had corrosion

I didn’t have the time (new job working away from home / along with kitchen extension!) so sold the car a couple of months ago.

It is now for sale on ebay …………… the guy could have done extensive work and it could be in perfect order now, however there is no mention of this in the advert.

I have had TVR's for over 10 years and done a body lift so know the hidden horror's that can be there.

I had a 99 chim a few years back 50K miles and chassis looked "OK"
The guy who bought wasn't sure so we came to an agreement and split the difference on a body lift.
One of the out riggers completly gone............. Willow sports cars (straight 6 as was at Newark)
The S is a lovely car, just wanted to make people aware of "what" they may be buying.
I had priced a chassis up at £2K,
TVR's are my hobby and not a business to me........ I love owning them and driving them, Currently run a T350 and looking for a chim as a project ........ more regular all year round drive........... yes I will be keeping the T350.
As for the milage, it was a little less than 150K so why it was taken back to exactly the same as the last MOT I don't know as 132K ......... 140K or 150K does it matter on a car of this age........?? its more the condition, whats been done etc etc.

the guy who had it before me had it a long time, you will see my wife's name on the log book for the past 6 or so months.

Yes I'm sure some one will buy it and have many miles of pleaseure, the S's are a lovely car

I don't want to say anything bad about the car as it may all be OK now, but I do have the bill of sale and lots of pics..... along with lots of details when I bought the car, so if anyone wants more information then please ask, I have had TVR's for over 10 years, prior to that an MGB for 21 years, so I do know a little bit about cars............ if the out riggers had been done then why does the add not say so.
It was inspected by a guy who use to work for TVR and then set up on his own, what he doesn't know about TVR's.....!! and he told me the chassis was very poor before I bought it as it had been in his workshop for an inspection.
I'll leave you all to make your own minds up just wanted to make people aware of what "they may" be buying,
If its all sorted and a good car then great, but he's a dealer so would he have spent more than he needs to to sell the car? again its up to you to decide not for me to say as I'm not in a position to comment am I?

Thank you Classic Chim, someone who speaks some sense.
This is exactly what is required, a full rebuild. As for someone who “paints over rust” short term quick fix and a MOT inspector should have picked this up.
Yes the engine had an oil leak from high up……… but it did make good oil pressure

This is going to be my last post on the subject as all I wanted to do was stop someone who dreamed of TVR ownership buying this thinking wow cheap TVR only to find huge bills in 12 months time, then saying TVR’s are not so good….. when they are great cars
