Well.......
It was all going well, so happy with second spot against Darrens car and runner up best in show thanks for the votes peeps. thumbup
Raffle, god only knows how i manged 5 prizes
Again fantastic, great causes.
(Love the V8S poster spec sheet Paul Brilliant)
Well done Glen & Al clap

Then....

Your tootling along 70 ish in the fast lane as we do little vibration thinking really should get these balanced again.
Then.... Sssst. !!! i look to the left to see my near side front wheel bouncing along the motorway onto the verge, it traveled a good further 200 metres coming to rest on the grass just by the hard shoulder.
Sparks flying everwhere managed to slide her across to the hard shoulder.. sat there for a few seconds to compose myself then though get out i might be on fire, lucky not.

Looks like the lower wish bone has taken most of the force. Grinding it and the bottom of the shock and the drop link flat. Some under bonnet damage but only surface.

Big thanks to Mike (Philpott) who had stopped at the services just before and then caught up and saw a broken man on the side of the road...haha.
Stuck with me till just before 9pm when the recovery vehicle finally came. Top man Mike.
We did managed to get the camping gas out and get a brew on to calm the nerves.

Nuts must have stripped as I'm 99% sure id torqued then on when switching from the stealth set but you question your self....

And then....

Rang Kim to tell her the good news only to be told my Auny had had a heart attack......

No way! How far out were you when that happened? I think you were ahead of us then behind us on the way out?

Not sure whether I would describe that as 'lucky' or 'unlucky' but thank goodness you were ok and to have Mr P on hand with the brew (and moral support!) was a bonus!!
I know - lucky or unlucky both really,
It was me with brew equipment lucky and a nice tub of cookies to keep spirits up.
Again fair play to Mike

Simon, so sorry to hear that, but as others have said, glad that you're ok.

Such a shame after all that work to get ready, but I'm sure Richard and the boys at RT will soon have her back in tip-top condition.
It's actually at Dave Gerald's/ Classic World Racing.
Apart new wishbone being fabricated (Hens teeth) , I've got the Shock and sending it of to Gaz for refurb be back 3-4 days.
Just 2 weeks to Silverstone Classic and RT's just a bit to far athough but I'm sure your right Ray

Thank you every one
The car to be honest is not to bad amazingly. The core work RT carried out is fine except the lower wish bone. Which we can replace and or repair the original and re powder coat.
The shock has gone away tonight to Gaz should be back in 4-5 days.
Needs a little paint touch up under the bonnet which really needed a touch up anyway.
So on the whole very very lucky.
Target is Silverstone Classic on the Sunday which is very achievable thanks to David Gerald's getting straight onto the problem. Thanks guys thumbup

Flippin' heck Simon! Your nuts must have really tightened when your wheel overtook you!

Thank Heaven nobody got hurt, it could've been a helluva lot worse.
So sorry I didn't stop, but by the time I saw those two S's, it was too late/ too hazardous to slam the brakes on, so I continued on hoping for a junction so I could return.
I didn't even see who it was, but after a while I figured that are least if there was another S in attendance, if the problem was fixable, then it would be fixed.
It was with a heavy heart that when no junction appeared after a good few miles, I decided to carry on.
As it happens, there wouldn't have been much I could have done to help apart from supplying extra teabags and my last drop of milk, so at least that has assuaged my feeling of guilt a little bit.

If it had been an incident on tour sur Le Continent, I would have slammed on the anchors and reversed back to the scene at high speed, but that just isn't done on the M40.

Have you posted your new low level profile on GrindR yet?

Sorry to hear your news about your Aunt, hope she is doing well and makes a good recovery.
I had a tear in my eye as you disappeared into the distance. I thought of those nights we spent together, the initiation ..... oooo i starting again.... cry..cry

Hahaha... thanks buddy I know thumbup
I commented to Mike you did try to slow/stop i could tell but you were trapped in and quite a way on by then. But thanks for the thought. ... haha.

Blimey! Sorry to see all that Simon. Looks like you're going to get it all fixed quickly and of course you're safe and sound. I hope your Auntie has a speedy recovery.

NB. I had a wheel come off a Hillman Imp many, many years ago. It slid to a halt in a shower of sparks out side a Chinese take-away. Not as scary as your incident and much more convenient laugh
Funny you should say that Joe we ended the night well started the next day past midnight with a chinky.
Must be customery after a 3 wheel experience.

Blimey Simon! That sounds terrifying, so glad no harm done to yourself (or others).
Well done for managing to keep it under control enough to make the hard shoulder.
I'm sure you'll have it sorted in no time and hope your aunt gets better soon.
Thanks Stu
